The system, method, and program of the invention captures actual physical gestures made by a participant during a chat room or instant messaging session or other real time communication session between participants over a network and automatically transmits a representation of the gestures to the other participants. Image processing software analyzes successive video images, received as input from a video camera, for an actual physical gesture made by a participant. When a physical gesture is analyzed as being made, the state of the gesture is also determined. The state of the gesture identifies whether it is a first occurrence of the gesture or a subsequent occurrence. An action, and a parameter for the action, is determined for the gesture and the particular state of the gesture. A command to the API of the communication software, such as chat room software, is automatically generated which transmits a representation of the gesture to the participants through the communication software.

An Internet (or World-Wide-Web or other such public or private network) based business card and contact management system capable of conveying and managing advertising as well as traditional and other non-traditional business contact information. The invention is a system that: (1) accepts a Universal Contact Locator (UCL) as encoded on a business card in man and/or machine readable format and, when the Universal Contact Locator (UCL) is entered into a client program running on a client computer, (2) causes a web browser (or like program) and associated communications software to establish a communications session with a remote server computer which (3) accesses the stored contact and advertisement and news information of the card issuer associated with the Universal Contact Locator and (4) downloads the business contact and/or personal contact information and targeted advertisements and news items associated with the Universal Contact Locator to a client program running on a client computer which (5) loads the contact data into the Contact Management or Personal Information Management (PIM) system of the users choosing running on the users client computer and (6) stores the advertisements and news items downloaded from the server computer on the client computer's secondary storage device (i.e. hard disk) and (7) causes the advertisements and news items stored on the client computer's secondary storage device to be displayed to the user on a predetermined schedule in a portion of the client computer's output device (i.e. CRT or LCD panel).

An agent accessory tool which enables integration of a Web-type application operating within a browser area and general application operating outside browser area is provided. The agent accessory tool includes an agent program interlocking by HTTP incorporated in a personal computer (hereinafter referred to as PC) of each of a plurality of clients, and a Web server having a CGI interface for executing communication software and an external application of the HTTP concerned to each client PC through a communication line. A home health point-of-care and administration system and method that has at least one mobile device that is adapted to establish bi-directional communication with a server system is provided. Tracking and data communication software are associated with the mobile device in various embodiments. One or more input components of the mobile device allow for input of information from a user (such as a visiting home healthcare staff member) and the mobile device is adapted for receipt of instructional and other information from the server system to build a dynamic visit record. The record provides detailed information related to off-site visits such as tasks performed by the visiting staff member using the mobile device. Start and finish times of the visit may also be recorded. A global positioning system (GPS) application operating in conjunction with the communication device and server system may be employed to monitor the actions of the visiting staff member. Such information is provided in individual visit records transmitted to the remote server system and may be used for administrative purposes.

A system to monitor and report the use of communication software applications in a computing environment including an instant messaging system, that provides local users with information describing detected uses of communication software applications by remote users. The monitored communication applications may include, for example, electronic mail, voice over IP applications, on-line meetings, and other specific types of communication applications, as well as instant messaging activities. The system potentially stores specific information regarding each use of the monitored communication applications, and sends the communication application information to one or more server process that stores the information in association with a user identifier provided with the information. Disclosed herein is a computer implemented method and system that securely aggregates and manages user related data in an online environment while maintaining privacy of a user. The user provides access credentials at a client device for each of multiple data sources. The access credentials are transformed to an unreadable format at the client device using a public key transmitted by a web server. The transformed access credentials in the unreadable format are stored locally on the client device. A communicating software agent on the client device communicates the stored access credentials to the web server. The web server transforms the communicated access credentials to a readable format using a private key and retrieves the user related data by accessing the data sources using the access credentials in the readable format. The web server presents the retrieved user related data to the user in one or more presentation modes.
