A load control system having a controllable electrical outlet provides a low cost solution for controlling a plurality of standard electrical outlets. The controllable electrical outlet may be coupled in series between a power source and at least one standard electrical outlet for controlling the power delivered to the standard electrical outlet. The controllable electrical outlet may comprise an actuator for allowing the controllable electrical outlet to be associated with an input device for receiving digital messages from the input device. The controllable electrical outlet may be installed in a standard electrical wallbox, e.g., replacing a previously-installed standard electrical outlet. The actuator may be easily accessed to associate the controllable electrical outlet with the input device and a radio-frequency receiver and antenna may be located in the controllable electrical outlet to provide optimum reception of radio-frequency signals.

A modularly attachable transfer switch assembly for operative connection to two alternate power sources and a power load is disclosed. The transfer switch can be quickly and easily installed upon existing electrical meters and therefore does not require modifications to existing electrical wiring systems. The transfer switch includes one power switch for selectively connecting a electrical utility power supply to the power load of a structure, such as a building for example, and a second power switch for selectively connecting an emergency power supply to the power load of the building. The transfer switch includes a mechanical interlock operatively connected to both the power switches for physically preventing both the power switches from assuming simultaneous ON positions, and a controller for controlling the emergency power supply and the transfer switches. The transfer switch is enclosed within a casing adapted for connection between a watt-hour meter and a meter socket of existing service installations for simple installation of the transfer switch.

A telescoping pier foundation system (100, 100a, 100b) comprises generally an outer shell preferably made of a tough material, such as, a suitable polymer or a metal alloy, having an internal cavity (12) for receiving cementitious mixture. The outer shell comprises a stationary portion (10) and at least one longitudinally telescoping member (30) in longitudinal alignment with one another and connected to one another to achieve a given height, length or depth for forming a pier foundation. After the at least one telescoping member (30) is raised to meet a structural member (80, 80a) of a building and secured to the structural member, the internal cavity (12) of the outer shell is filled with cementitious mixture and cured to form a composite pier foundation.

An extendable rod has a head that captures a partition curtain and holds the curtain near a surface such as a ceiling or wall. The head has an outer surface (e.g., an upper surface when the head is abutting a ceiling) that has a deformable gripping surface. The lower surface of the head is metallic and relies upon magnetic force to capture the curtain in place on the head. In a first embodiment the lower surface has downwardly depending flanges on opposite ends. In another embodiment, the downwardly depending flanges form a three-sided seat for receiving a magnet. The curtain is draped over the upper surface of the head and is wrapped over the lower surface. A magnet or magnets are placed onto the lower surface, inward of the flange or seat, capturing the curtain and holding it in place on the head. The rod is then extended so that the upper surface of the head bears against the ceiling or other surface and such that there is no structure between the head and the ceiling except the curtain. The magnets hold the curtain securely in place, which allows for simple installation.

The invention includes an integral power input cord having a power input connector capable of being connected directly to a power source, an integral power output cord having a power output connector capable of being connected directly to an electrical load, a switch for enabling or disabling power to the power output cord, a load status detector for determining whether the electrical load is ON or OFF, a timekeeping mechanism for tracking time-of-day, programmable time limits for restricting usage of the electrical load, non-volatile storage for critical data, secure access to time and program data, and a numeric display and pushbuttons for system interaction. The invention provides inherent security because the timer is integral to the power cord, thus the timer cannot be bypassed. Further, no mechanical locking mechanisms are required to capture a secondary power cord.

A security device for a sliding door or sliding window assembly comprising a base plate and a removably interlocking stop member. The base plate is securely fastened to the floor or window sill, respectively, in close proximity and along the path of movement of a sliding door or sliding window, by means of a plurality of openings for receiving screws. The stop member, while engagingly disposed in the interlocked, in use position, prevents the sliding door or sliding window from opening at all or past a predetermined point. The base plate and stop member are each formed having an interlocking means element, adapted to receive, matingly, the others interlocking means element. The stop member features a blocking element, which projects into the path of the sliding door or sliding window, while in the in use position. Removing the stop member allows normal movement of the sliding door or sliding window.

A bicycle headset structure is provided to aid in concealment of wiring from components mounted in the handlebar area to components mounted on the rest of the bicycle. The bicycle headset structure basically comprises a handlebar attachment member and a tubular spacer member. The handlebar attachment member has wiring passage extends between the handlebar mounting portion and the steerer tube attachment portion. The tubular spacer member has a wiring channel extending between first and second ends of the tubular spacer member and an axial passageway extending axially between the upper and lower end openings of the tubular spacer member. The invention provides a removable closure system comprising a tubular member having an internal surface with an internal profile therein, an entrance end and a plug end, the internal profile providing a collet shoulder and a plug stopping shoulder. A plug assembly is positioned within the tubular member. The plug assembly has a plug suitable for insertion through the tubular member at the entrance end and past the collet shoulder, a collet with a plurality of collet fingers. The collet fingers are moveable between a collapsed and a normally expanded condition, the collapsed condition suitable for insertion of the plug assembly through the tubular member past the collet shoulder and the expanded condition suitable for engaging the collet shoulder. When the plug assembly is placed in the tubular member against the plug stopping shoulder, and the collet fingers are in the expanded condition engaging the collet shoulder, the plug assembly is removably secured in the tubular member.

A vacuum relief unit and method for venting air into a pool pumping system when a pressure level within the system drops below a first pressure level limit. The unit includes a closed air chamber, a device for venting chamber air from the air chamber into the pool pumping system when the pressure level in the pool pumping system drops below the first pressure level limit, a device for venting atmospheric air into the air chamber when the pressure level within the air chamber drops below a second pressure level limit that is lower than the first pressure level limit, and a device for delaying operation of the atmospheric air venting device when the pressure within the air chamber is no longer below the second pressure level limit.

An automatic water leveling device for a swimming pool comprising: a cylinder attached to an edge of the swimming pool; a float suspended from a line within the cylinder, where the float rests upon the water within the cylinder; a magnetic contact attached to the float; drain magnets attached towards the top of the cylinder; and fill magnets attached toward the bottom of the cylinder. The automatic water leveling device adjusts the water levels within the swimming pool by activating a drain or spigot associated with the pool. As water levels rise, the float and magnetic contact meet the drain magnets to activate a system to drain the swimming pool. As the water levels lower, the float and magnetic contact meet the fill magnets to activate the system to fill the swimming pool. The system continues to drain or fill the swimming pool until the original water level is achieved.

A dispenser for distributing measured quantities of fluid to pasty product comprising a storage container with axially displaceable guide pistons and a dispenser head with a dispenser pump. A pump chamber is restricted by check valves at the entry and exit. A discharge channel is positioned downstream of the dispenser pump with an application opening that can be sealed by a sealing element. The dispenser head is designed with an application cap with a planar application surface closing the dispenser head in an axial direction and with an application opening centrally arranged in the application surface. The sealing element is designed in such a way, and arranged within the application surface, that the sealing element completely overlaps the application opening and is flush with the planar application surface.
