The application discloses a method for rapidly screening breeding parents of Babylonia areolata based on shell color
phenotype, and the specific steps are as follows: collecting adult Babylonia areolata; dividing the adult Babylonia areolata into a
dark color group and a light color group according to shell color, wherein the
dark color group is red brown to dark red brown individuals, and the light color group is white to yellow brown individuals; using differential morphological indexes for the Babylonia areolata in different shell color groups to accurately screen Babylonia areolata breeding parents: for the
dark color group, shell width is greater than or equal to 58 mm, body spiral layer width is greater than or equal to 45 mm, and shell mouth height is greater than or equal to 65 mm; and for the light color group, body spiral layer width is greater than or equal to 45 mm, shell mouth height is greater than or equal to 65 mm, shell height is greater than or equal to 91 mm, and shell width is greater than or equal to 55 mm. The parent with high body quality and high meat yield potential can be screened
in vivo, and through comparison of
offspring cultivation of the screening group and the control group, it is proved that the
screening method can significantly improve the genetic
gain (17.9-21.1%) of the target traits, and has good breeding application value.
