A wireless engine monitoring system (WEMS) includes an engine monitoring module that is mounted directly on an aircraft engine and records, stores, encrypts and transmits full flight engine data. A cyclone gasifying combustion burner and its operation is described. An exemplary burner has an inner cylindrical wall with a contour chamber feeding combustion air into the inner cylindrical wall, with an open end and a solid fuel support end where a combustible material forms a fuel bed. The inner cylindrical wall has a series of inclined air jet holes of substantially predetermined diameter and disposed at substantially predetermined locations therein to create a unidirectional cyclone within a combustion zone defined within the inner cylindrical wall. The air jet holes are disposed at a tangential and vertical angle whereby the combustion air is drawn into the inner cylindrical wall and creates a cyclone flow to mix with the combustion gases released from the flaming pyrolysis fuel bed and causes the combustion gases to flow in a cyclone path within a reaction zone to increase the residency, mixing and turbulence time of the combustion gases and simultaneously precipitate suspended particles against an inner surface of the inner cylindrical wall whereby the particles are caused to gravitate to the fuel bed where they are removed in a controlled manner during the operation of the burner.

A hydration apparatus for use with a hydration tank. The hydration apparatus disperses incoming gel into existing gel in the hydration tank to increase the hydration time of the incoming gel. The hydration apparatus includes flow conduits communicated with gel inlets in the hydration tank. The flow conduits redirect the flow of the incoming gel. The flow conduits preferably redirect the flow from a generally horizontal direction to generally vertically upwardly direction. The hydration apparatus has a plurality of deflectors positioned in the hydration tank. Flow exiting an end of the flow conduits is deflected by the deflectors and dispersed into existing gel in the hydration tank. The flow conduits are preferably perforated flow conduits so that a portion of incoming gel passes through openings in the sides of the flow conduits while a portion of the incoming gel passes through an exit of the flow conduits. Incoming gel is therefore sufficiently dispersed into existing gel to increase the hydration time of incoming gel.

The node receives a message sent by a gateway, wherein the message comprises a number T3 shared by the gateway and a server, and a gateway identification. The node encrypts data with a key K1 shared by the node and the server, the data including T3, the gateway identification, and a random number T1 generated by the node, and then sends the encrypted data and a node identification to the server through the gateway. The node decrypts data encrypted by the server and forwarded by the gateway with the key, determines that the server is a valid server according to a T1-related number obtained by decryption, and establishes a security channel with the gateway according to a new key obtained through the decryption.

A system having a reactor for continuous processing of fluid is provided herein. The reactor, in general, includes an outer vessel to accommodate fluids to be processed or used in connection therewith, an inner vessel situated within the outer vessel to serve as an energy exchange surface, and an annular space defined between the outer and inner vessels and along which processing of the fluids can be implemented. The continuous thin film reactor can be used to perform, for example, distillation and evaporation, fluid-fluid or solid-fluid-fluid reactions, organic reactions, cooling, and desalination.

An image data storage system and associated method store, on one or more disk drives in a disk drive array, original image data for different images as well as multiple resolution levels of compressed image data for each image. The lowest resolution level image data for multiple different images (i.e., “thumbnail” copies of images) are grouped together and stored within sectors closest to the center. The progressively higher resolution levels of image data for the same images can similarly be grouped together and stored within sectors sequentially from a first track closest to the center to a last track closet to an outer edge. Alternatively, all higher resolution levels of image data for any single image can be grouped together and stored within a same sector as close to the center as possible. This organization can significantly reduce average access time for large collections of images.

A cold trap is disclosed with a chamber having partitions or surfaces that direct the incoming wet vapor to substantially all of the cold inner surfaces of the cold trap. Typically, the cold inner surfaces are the inner walls of the chamber. The interaction of the wet vapor and the cold surfaces condense the molecules. The wet vapor minus the condensed molecules may be heated and returned to the source of the wet vapor for reuse.
