The present invention provides a bi-directional catheter with nearly double the throw in its catheter tip deflection. In particular, the travel path of each the puller wire includes a U-turn or doubling-back around a pulley which minimizes the offset angle between the puller wire and the longitudinal axis of the control handle while maximizing the travel distance of that puller wire for any given distance traveled by the pulley drawing the puller wire. In one embodiment, the catheter has an elongated catheter body, a catheter tip section with first and second diametrically-opposed off-axis lumens, and a control handle which includes a steering assembly having a lever structure carrying a pair of pulleys for simultaneously drawing and releasing corresponding puller wires to deflect the tip section of the catheter.

A bi-directional catheter with nearly double the throw in its catheter tip deflection defines a puller wire travel path having a U-turn a pulley which minimizes the offset angle between the puller wire and the longitudinal axis of the control handle while maximizing the travel distance of that puller wire for any given distance traveled by the pulley drawing the puller wire. In particular, the control handle of the catheter which includes a steering assembly having a lever arm carrying a pair of pulleys for drawing corresponding puller wires to deflect the tip section of the catheter. The pulleys are rotatably mounted on opposing portions of the lever arm such that one pulley is moved distally as the other pulley is moved proximally when the lever arm is rotated. Because each puller wire is trained on a respective pulley, rotation of the lever arm causes the pulley that is moved proximally to draw its puller wire to deflect the tip section in the direction of the off-axis lumen in which that puller wire extends.

Method and apparatus for medical X-radiography

The invention relates to a method for eliminating error elements caused by movements of an imaged object in X-radiography, said method comprising performing X-radiography on an imaged object for compiling three-dimensional X-radiographic information. The method comprises creating a model geometry of an X-ray imaging process, said creation work comprising a determination of the location for two or more position markers in a set of coordinates graded for an X-ray imaging apparatus. When X-radiography of an imaged object is completed, predictions are worked out regarding the locations of position markers during the imaging session. The locations and predictions determined on the basis of the model geometry are used as a basis for defining projected or most likely locations for the position markers and an automatic position markers identification method is applied for finding the locations of position markers from within a search area in the X-radiographic information. When the locations of at least two position markers have been found with the automatic position markers identification method, a minimization of offsets between the projected locations of position markers and the locations of position markers looked up by the automatic identification method is performed by searching for a minimum point of the function for eliminating the error elements resulting from movements of an imaged object.

Sensor aided video stabilization

Techniques described herein provide a method for improved image and video stabilization using inertial sensors. Gyroscopes, accelerometers and magnetometers are examples of such inertial sensors. The movement of the camera causes shifts in the image captured. Image processing techniques may be used to track the shift in the image on a frame-by-frame basis. The movement of the camera may be tracked using inertial sensors. By calculating the degree of similarity between the image shift as predicted by image processing techniques with shift of the device estimated using one or more inertial sensor, the device may estimate the portions of the image that are stationary and those that are moving. Stationary portions of the image may be used to transform and align the images. For video stabilization, the realigned images may be combined to generate the video. For image stabilization, the realigned images may be either added or averaged to generate the de-blurred image.

Semiconductor physical quantity sensor

A semiconductor physical quantity sensor from which a stable sensor output can be obtained even when the usage environment changes. A silicon thin film is disposed on an insulating film on a supporting substrate, and a bridge structure having a weight part and moving electrodes and cantilever structures having fixed electrodes are formed as separate sections from this silicon thin film. The moving electrodes provided on the weight part and the cantilevered fixed electrodes are disposed facing each other. Slits are formed at root portions of the cantilevered fixed electrodes at the fixed ends thereof, and the width W1 of the root portions is thereby made narrower than the width W2 of the fixed electrodes proper. As a result, the transmission of warp of the supporting substrate to the cantilevered fixed electrodes is suppressed.

Almost peer-to-peer clock synchronization

Disclosed are a method of and a system for synchronizing clocks in a coordinated network of computers including a multitude of processing nodes, each of the nodes having a clock and one or more neighbor nodes. The method comprises the steps of electing one of the nodes as a correct leader node; and each of the non-leader nodes adjusting its clock rate, based on messages exchanged with neighbor nodes, to remain synchronized with the clock of said correct leader node. In a preferred embodiment, the adjusting step includes the step of each of the non-correct leader nodes using a weight assignment mechanism that gives neighbor nodes that are closer to the leader node more effect on the clock adjustment than those nodes that are further away from the correct leader node.

System and method for common mode calibration in an analog to digital converter

A conversion circuit increases a gain of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) preamplifier by minimizing a common mode offset voltage between an input signal and a reference signal. The feedback controller circuit calibrates an input common mode voltage to mitigate a common mode offset voltage. Reduction of the common mode offset voltage increases the gain of the ADC preamplifier. In an example, the method is executed during a hold phase of a track-and-hold circuit that transmits the input signal to the ADC.
