A packet forwarding method and apparatus performs multiprotocol routing (for IP and IPX protocols) and switching. Incoming data packets are examined and the flow (i.e., source and destination addresses and source and destination socket numbers) with which they are associated is determined. A flow table contains forwarding information that can be applied to the flow. If an entry is not present in the table for the particular flow, the packet is forwarded to the CPU to be processed. The CPU can then update the table with new forwarding information to be applied to all future packets belonging to the same flow. When the forwarding information is already present in the table, packets can thus be forwarded at wire speed. A dedicated ASIC is preferably employed to contain the table, as well as the engine for examining the packets and forwarding them according to the stored information. Decision-making tasks are thus more efficiently partitioned between the switch and the CPU so as to minimize processing overhead.

A package-board co-design methodology preserves the signal integrity of high-speed signals passing from semiconductor packages to application PCBs. The present invention relates to a process for producing CaCO3 or MgCO3 from a feedstock comprising a Ca- or Mg-comprising mixed metal oxide, wherein: (a) an aqueous slurry of the feedstock is contacted with a C02 containing gas to form an aqueous solution of Ca(HCO3)2 or Mg(HCO3)2 and a solid Ca- or Mg-depleted feedstock; (b) part or all of the aqueous solution of Ca(HCO3)2 or Mg(HCO3)2 is separated from the solid Ca- or Mg-depleted feedstock; (c) CaCO3 or MgCO3 is precipitated from the separated aqueous solution of Ca(HCO3)2 or Mg(HCO3)2; and (d) the precipitated CaCO3 or MgCO3 is recovered as product. The invention further relates to a process for the production of an aqueous solution of Ca(HCO3)2 or Mg(HCO3)2.

There is provided a honeycomb filter obtained by bonding, into one piece, a plurality of honeycomb segments comprising partition walls having filtering function, and a number of through-holes divided from each other by the partition walls and extending in an axial direction. Predetermined through-holes are plugged at one end face of the filter, and the remaining through-holes are plugged at the other end face of the filter. The honeycomb filter is characterized in that the honeycomb segment disposed in a peripheral portion of the honeycomb filter has a lower average bulk density than that of the honeycomb segment disposed in a central portion.

The invention provides a detector comprising a metamaterial absorber and a micro-bolometer arranged to detect terahertz (THz) radiation. The metamaterial absorber can absorb multiple frequency bands, from the infrared and the THz regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. The detector is scalable to be suitable for use in a focal plane array.

A frame assembly for securing a plurality of modular sofa parts together into a sofa frame. The frame assembly includes a pair of tapered members attached to opposing sides of a backrest sofa part and a pair of receptacles attached to a respective one of a pair of rails, which are in turn attached to a pair of armrests. Microstructured nuclear fuel adapted for nuclear power system use includes fissile material structures of micrometer-scale dimension dispersed in a matrix material. In one method of production, fissile material particles are processed in a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) fluidized-bed reactor including a gas inlet for providing controlled gas flow into a particle coating chamber, a lower bed hot zone region to contain powder, and an upper bed region to enable powder expansion. At least one pneumatic or electric vibrator is operationally coupled to the particle coating chamber for causing vibration of the particle coater to promote uniform powder coating within the particle coater during fuel processing. An exhaust associated with the particle coating chamber and can provide a port for placement and removal of particles and powder. During use of the fuel in a nuclear power reactor, fission products escape from the fissile material structures and come to rest in the matrix material. After a period of use in a nuclear power reactor and subsequent cooling, separation of the fissile material from the matrix containing the embedded fission products will provide an efficient partitioning of the bulk of the fissile material from the fission products. The fissile material can be reused by incorporating it into new microstructured fuel. The fission products and matrix material can be incorporated into a waste form for disposal or processed to separate valuable components from the fission products mixture.
