Slotted rotary shaver

An electrically powered slotted rotary shaver which provides the clean, close shave of a hand-held razor combined with the safety, comfort and convenience of an electric shaver. The slotted rotary shaver comprises a body portion and a shaving portion. The head portion is provided with one or more shaving head assemblies having fixed upper grids and lower rotary grids. The upper grids are positioned upon a shaft extending from motor positioned within the body portion of the shaver. The upper grids are advantageously separated into four pie-shaped quadrants held together at the center by a pivot point, and comprise a plurality of apertures disposed over the high surface active cutting area of the upper grid through which hair protrudes when the head portion of the shaver is placed against a user's skin. The edges of each quadrant of the upper rotary grid also include sharpened blades which are arranged diametrically opposite one another to define slots through which long and/or curly hair, as well as previously cut stubble protrudes when the head portion of the shaver is placed against the user's skin. The lower rotary grid which includes openings thereon, is disposed on motor shaft below the upper grid and is planerized through opposite magnetized polarity such that when the shaver is activated, the lower rotary grids spin at high speeds in a continually reversing clockwise and counterclockwise directions upon the motor shaft to create a scissoring action which cuts the hair which has protruded through the apertures and slot of the upper rotary grid and the openings of the lower rotary grid when the shaving portion of the shaver is placed against a user's face.

Techniques for modeling elastic rods in position-based dynamics frameworks

In one embodiment of the present invention, a position-based dynamics (PBD) framework provides realistic modeling and simulation for elastic rods. In particular, the twisting and bending physics of elastic rods is incorporated into the PBD framework. In operation, an elastic rod model generator represents the center line of an elastic rod as a polyline of points connected via edges. For each edge, the elastic rod model generator adds a ghost point to define the orientation of a material frame that encodes the twist of the edge. Subsequently, a PBD simulator solves for positions of both points and ghost points that, together, represent the evolving position and torsion of the elastic rod. Advantageously, the ghost points enable more realistic animation of deformable objects (e.g., curly hair) than conventional PBD frameworks. Further, unlike force based methods, elastic rod simulation in the PBD framework performs acceptably in environments where speed is critical.

Hair curling system

A hair curling system includes a base heating unit, a hair roller, and a hair cover. The base heating unit generates and transports steam (or another medium) to the hair roller for heating and moisturizing the roller. The steam medium carries a separate hair treatment composition for treating the hair. The steam medium and the hair treatment composition are transferred to hair wound on the hair roller and covered by the hair cover. The transfer takes place within a thermally quarantined zone between the hair roller and the hair cover. An optional temperature control system may be provided for independently heating or cooling the hair cover to a temperature that provides a desired temperature gradient between the hair roller and the hair cover. One or more of an optional ionizer, crystal or mineral unit or material may also be provided to further influence the hair treatment.

Artistic simulation of curly hair

ActiveUS9449417B1Stable simulationEffective simulationAnimationAnimationEngineering
Techniques are disclosed for stably simulating stylized curly hair that address artistic needs and performance demands, both found in the production of feature films. To satisfy the artistic requirement of maintaining a curl's helical shape during motion, a hair model is developed based upon an extensible elastic rod. A method is provided for stably computing a frame along a hair curve for stable simulation of curly hair. The hair model introduces a new type of spring for controlling the bending and twisting of a curl and another for maintaining the helical shape during extension. The disclosed techniques address performance concerns often associated with handling hair-hair contact interactions by efficiently parallelizing the simulation. A novel algorithm is presented for pruning both hair-hair contact pairs and hair particles. The method can be used on a full length feature film and has proven to be robust and stable over a wide range of animated motion and on a variety of hair styles, from straight to wavy to curly.

Hair transformational solution, which transforms hair via a physical change, rather than a chemical change, with the unique properties that act like natural human sebum.

A hair transformation agent, useful in transforming hair texture from kinky to curly, by application of this non permanent solution. The solution acts like the sebum of a human. Hair that is naturally rich in sebum is healthy, shiny, strong, nourished. Hair that is lacking is in typically in bad condition. Hair shaft can lack sebum because of chemical use, but seems to be a natural occurrence in kinky hair. Because of this people with kinky hair often seek extreme measures to restore their hair or make it more manageable. Most resort to chemical processing to change the texture look and feel of the hair only this just makes the hair worst. Our formula will give kinky hair the sebum it is lacking and in the process the hair will begin to act, look and feel like another hair texture that has abundant sebum naturally, curly hair, and textural change will occur.
