Water blocking electrical cable

An electrical cable for shipboard use that can block water is disclosed. The electrical cable includes conductors, water swellable tapes, water swellable yarns, solid fillers, and a jacket. Each conductor is substantially wrapped with water swellable tape. The conductors are disposed adjacent to each other thereby forming interstitial voids between each of the conductors. Solid fillers and water swellable yarns are alternatively disposed in each interstitial void. Additional water swellable tape substantially envelopes the conductors, water swellable yarns, and solid fillers. The jacket is disposed on the outermost peripheral surface of the electrical cable.

Microelectromechanical device manufacturing process

The present invention relates to micro electromechanical systems (MEMS) devices and more specifically to a process for manufacturing MEMS devices having at least one suspended structural element. The present invention seeks to provide an improved method for manufacture of MEMS devices having improved safety and increased yield and throughput compared to conventional EDP immersion process techniques. MEMS devices are made using a modified dissolution process that removes, in a selective etch step, inactive silicon to release an active silicon device from a sacrificial substrate. The present invention uses a selective etchant in conjunction with a commercial spray acid processing tool to provide a dissolution process with improved throughput, improved repeatable and uniform etch rates and reduction in the number of processing steps and chemical containment for improved safety. When the etch process is complete, the solvent spray is turned off and a spray of de-ionized water is directed onto composite structure to remove residual solvent without causing suspended elements to adhere to the support substrate.

Electromyographic Lead Positioning and Stimulation Titration in a Nerve Stimulation System for Treatment of Overactive Bladder

The present invention provides improved methods for positioning of an implantable lead in a patient with an integrated EMG and stimulation clinician programmer. The integrated clinician programmer is coupled to the implantable lead, wherein the implantable lead comprises at least four electrodes, and to at least one EMG sensing electrode minimally invasively positioned on a skin surface or within the patient. The method comprises delivering a test stimulation at a stimulation amplitude level from the integrated clinician programmer to a nerve tissue of the patient with a principal electrode of the implantable lead. Test stimulations are delivered at a same stimulation amplitude level for a same period of time sequentially to each of the four electrodes of the implantable lead. A stimulation-induced EMG motor response is recorded with the integrated clinician programmer for each test stimulation on each electrode of the implantable lead via the at least one pair of EMG sensing electrodes so as to facilitate initial positioning of the implantable lead at a target stimulation region.

Intrauterine chemical necrosing method, composition, and apparatus

A method and composition for effecting chemical necrosis of a tissue lining of a mammalian body cavity, particularly a uterine endometrium, by delivering a caustic tissue necrosing composition, e.g., a silver nitrate and dextran paste, to the tissue to be necrosed and allowing the paste to remain in contact with the target tissue for a period of time sufficient to chemically necrose substantially the entirety of the tissue lining, and then contacting the caustic composition with a deactivating agent, e.g., an aqueous sodium chloride solution, thereby rendering the caustic composition non-caustic, and then rinsing the cavity. Compositions and methods for delivering medicaments are also disclosed.

Motor controller power switch arrangement

A polyphase inverter employs multiple power semiconductor switches both for its operation and to distribute the current and heat loads for improved operation and cooling. The inherently high currents required for motor operation are divided among a plurality of smaller conductors and semiconductor switches, making a printed wiring board feasible both for power distribution and for control. The approach also permits shorter path lengths to the switches, reduced inductance, faster possible operation of the power switches, and reduced transient activity outside of the immediate switch area. Signals derived from various power points can enable the controller to assess actual current and power distribution and to apportion losses appropriately, or to limit total power output should the losses be deemed excessive.
