A method of operating a metrology instrument includes generating relative motion between a probe and a sample at a scan frequency using an actuator. The method also includes detecting motion of the actuator using a position sensor that exhibits noise in the detected motion, and controlling the position of the actuator using a feedback loop and a feed forward algorithm. In this embodiment, the controlling step attenuates noise in the actuator position compared to noise exhibited by the position sensor over the scan bandwidth. Scan frequencies up to a third of the first scanner resonance frequency or greater than 300 Hz are possible.

A method and system for determining whether arcing is present in an electrical circuit. The methods includes sensing a change in an alternating current in the circuit and developing a corresponding input signal, analyzing the input signal to determine the presence of broadband noise in a predetermined range of frequencies, and producing a corresponding output signal. The method further includes determining a type of load connected to the electrical circuit, based at least in part upon the input signal and the output signal, incrementing one or more of a plurality of counters in a predetermined fashion in accordance with the input signal and the output signal and determining whether an arcing fault is present based at least in part on the states of one or more of a plurality of counters. The method also includes decrementing one or more of the plurality of counters based upon a secondary analysis.

Method for virtual bass synthesis

This invention relates to a method for virtual bass synthesis. The low frequency signal is attained by applying a low pass filter to the original. In order to reduce the operations, process of down sampling the low frequency signal, moving the low frequency signal to a series of harmonics whose frequencies are integral times as large as the frequency of low frequency signals, and then up sampling them are provided. By means of psycho-acoustic theory, the weights of harmonics are attained and applied to the harmonics. Finally the weighted harmonics are combined to produce the bass signal. As the result, the virtual bass effect which is almost the same as the low frequency of the original audio signal can be accomplished. Because the harmonic signals are high frequency ones, the virtual effect can be made in the panel speakers or ordinary low-end speakers.

A high speed operating circuit such as a data processor chip and memory chips constituting an electronic circuit is mounted to a multilayer wiring substrate in the state of a bare chip, and is set to a multichip module. This multichip module is mounted to a wiring substrate constituting the electronic circuit. In the multichip module, buffer circuits are inserted into a module internal bus commonly connected to the data processor chip and the memory chips. The buffer circuits are set to an address output buffer, a control signal output buffer and a data input / output buffer set to a high impedance state in accordance with an operating selection of the memory chips. When high frequency noise resisting characteristics are strengthened by the multilayer wiring substrate and the data processor chip gets access to the memory chips, an external noise tends to flow into a memory through the module internal bus connected to the data processor chip and the memory chips. However, the buffer circuits restrain the flow-in of such an external noise and prevent memory data from being broken by the high frequency noise during a memory access operation.

In one embodiment, the in-focus-distance is utilized as an estimated in-focus-distance at a second position of the array substrate. The method finds use in maintaining the focus of a light source while scanning the array by the scanner. Also provided are methods of assaying a sample using the methods and systems of the invention, and kits for performing the invention.
