The invention discloses a self-protection starting system of a marine diesel engine s, which comprises a starting mechanism, a barring mechanism, a speed reducing mechanism, a clutch mechanism, a detection module, a processing control module and an alarm module; the starting mechanism is elastically connected with the barring mechanism through the speed reducing mechanism and the clutch mechanism;the detection module is connected with the processing module and used for obtaining state information of the marine diesel engine in the barring process and the blowing process; and the processing module is connected with the alarm module and feeds back whether the marine diesel engine is started abnormally or not according to the state information obtained by the detection module. According to the self-protection starting system of the marine diesel engine provided by the invention, a method of embedding barring abnormality detection and diagnosis into the blowing starting process is adopted, no man-made interruption in the diesel engine starting process is realized by utilizing the speed reducing mechanism and the clutch mechanism, and self-protection in the diesel engine starting process is realized through the detection module and the processing control module, so that the marine diesel engine realizes active abnormality troubleshooting before starting, normal starting conditionsare met, and the purpose of safe starting is ensured.
