Ion-induced, UV-induced, and electron-induced sequential chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes are disclosed where an ion flux, a flux of ultra-violet radiation, or an electron flux, respectively, is used to induce the chemical reaction in the process. The process for depositing a thin film on a substrate includes introducing a flow of a first reactant gas in vapor phase into a process chamber where the gas forms an adsorbed saturated layer on the substrate and exposing the substrate to a flux of ions, a flux of ultra-violet radiation, or a flux of electrons for inducing a chemical reaction of the adsorbed layer of the first reactant gas to form the thin film. A second reactant gas can be used to form a compound thin film. The ion-induced, UV-induced, and electron-induced sequential CVD process of the present invention can be repeated to form a thin film of the desired thickness.

The present invention relates to an apparatus, method, software algorithm and system for evaluating plants for conditions or characteristics. In one aspect, the method can include imaging at least a portion of the plant and evaluating the image for discriminating condition(s) or characteristic(s) of interest. In one example, soybean roots are imaged and the image is evaluated to discriminate between soybean cyst nematode (SCN) cysts and the plant roots to count the number of SCN cysts for the plant. In another embodiment, a plant is illuminated by a ultra-violet radiation selected to cause photo-induced fluorescence of a target, e.g. SCN cysts. The fluorescence emitted is collected and analyzed to discriminate between the target and the remainder of the plant.

A method of manufacturing a semiconductor device having a low-k dielectric layer is provided. An embodiment comprises forming a dielectric layer on a substrate, wherein the layer comprises a pore generating material dispersed in an uncured matrix. A second step comprises forming pores in the uncured matrix by irradiating the layer with radiation having a first wavelength. After pore forming, a third step comprises cross-linking the dielectric by irradiating it at a second wavelength, the second being less than the first. In an embodiment, the irradiating wavelengths comprise ultra-violet radiation. Embodiments may further include repairing processing damage wherein the damage includes dangling bonds or silanol formation. The repairing includes annealing in a carbon-containing ambient such as C₂H₄, C₃H₆, or hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS).

In one embodiment of the invention, a transmitting spectral filter includes a thin film layer and a grating structure. The thin film layer is made of transmitting material to transmit a first incident radiation within a first band around a first wavelength. The first incident radiation is reflected from a mirror in an optical path. The grating structure is deposited on the thin film layer and is etched to have a grating period. The grating period causes transmission of the first incident radiation within the first band and causes at least one of reflection and diffraction of the second incident radiation above a second wavelength out of the optical path.

The invention discloses an ultra violet radiation cross-linking polymeric material for 3D printing and a preparation method and a product thereof. Main components of the material contain, by weight, 100 parts of unsaturated resin and 0.5-5 parts of an UV cross-linking agent. In addition, the material also contains, by weight, 0.1-0.5 part of an antioxidant, 1-20 parts of a powder, 0-10 parts of a pigment and 0-5 parts of other auxiliary agents, which help enhance a printing effect of the material. With the addition of the UV cross-linking agent and by the utilization of ultraviolet irradiation, unsaturated resin is subjected to crosslinking after 3D printing extrusion so as to form a three-dimensional net structure. Heat resistance, resistance to chemical corrosion and mechanical strength of a moulding material are all raised to a large extent. Thus, unsaturated resin has a wider application prospect in 3D printing materials.

A ventilator assembly for removing contaminants in cooking exhaust includes a hood portion having a hood plenum, and a duct portion in fluid communication with the hood portion, where the duct portion has an inside cross-sectional area that is less than half of an average inside cross-sectional area of the hoodplenum. A fan is in fluid communication with the duct portion for drawing the cooking exhaust through the hood portion to the duct portion. At least one ultra-violet lamp is disposed in the duct portion, where the ultra-violet radiation from the lamp reacts with the cooking exhaust to generate ozone for oxidizing contaminants in the cooking exhaust.

The multi-component kit includes a pretreatment formulation, a resurfacing formulation, and a restoration formulation. The method includes application of each formulation to the plastic lens covers using clean, lint free applicators. The pretreatment formulation is applied to clean the plastic lens covers and to prepare them for application of the resurfacing formulation, which repairs scratches and removes discoloration.
