Organic EL display and method of manufacturing the same

An organic EL display is displayed. The display is manufactured sealing and joining an organic light emitter constituted from thin film transistors, anodes, a light-emitting layer, a cathode and a protective layer which are laminated on a substrate, together with a laminated body of color filters and a black mask formed on a transparent substrate. The organic EL light-emitting layer is aligned with the color filters during the process of sealing the substrate and the transparent substrate using an outer periphery sealing layer and an internal sealing layer. The outer periphery sealing layer provides precise alignment between the organic EL light-emitting layer and the color filters and rapid fixing between them can be carried out, and prevents infiltration of moisture from the outside environment. The internal sealing layer prevents reflection of light from the organic EL light-emitting layer, and hence the light can be transmitted to the color filters effectively. The device and method prevent peeling apart due to cure shrinkage, peeling apart due to thermal stress from the temperature of the environment, and infiltration of moisture from the outside environment, so that stable light emission characteristics can be maintained over a long period.

Three-dimensional bioresorbable scaffolds for tissue engineering applications

The invention relates to the use of Fused Deposition Modeling to construct three-dimensional (3D) bioresorbable scaffolds from bioresorbable polymers such as polycaprolactone (PCL), or from composites of bioresorbable polymers and ceramics, such as polycaprolactone / hydroxyapatite (PCL / HA). Incorporation of a bioresorbable ceramic to produce a hybrid / composite material support provides the desired degradation and resorption kinetics. Such a composite material improves the biocompatibility and hard tissue integration and allows for increased initial flash spread of serum proteins. The basic resorption products of the composite also avoids the formation of an unfavorable environment for hard tissue cells due to a decreased pH. The scaffolds have applications in tissue engineering, e.g., in tissue engineering bone and cartilage.

A method and apparatus for transporting radiopharmaceuticals. Typically, the apparatus is a two-part assembly, each part having an exterior shell, a radiation shield and a non-porous lining. Additionally, the assembled apparatus has a sealed internal chamber suitable for carrying a syringe or a sharps container containing a syringe. The internal chamber of the radiopharmaceutical pig is lined with a non-porous lining, typically a durable plastic, that prevents contamination of the radiopharmaceutical doses, the radiation shield, or the environment. Additionally, the non-porous lining can be quickly and easily cleaned and sterilized, avoiding the often difficult, to impossible, task of cleaning and sterilizing the radiation shield of the radiopharmaceutical pig. The non-porous lining is surrounded by a radiation shield that is typically comprised of elemental lead. The radiation shield prevents radiation from the radiopharmaceutical from contaminating the user or environment. The radiation shield is surrounded by an exterior shell that absorbs impact and prevents the radiopharmaceutical pig from breaking. Additionally, the exterior shell prevents environmental exposure to the potentially hazardous material of the radiation shield. Generally, a method of transporting a radiopharmaceutical by filling the container with a radiopharmaceutical, inserting the container into the internal chamber of the radiopharmaceutical pig having a non-porous lining, and assembling the radiopharmaceutical pig so the that the container is in the internal chamber and is encapsulated by the radiation shield, is also provided.

Cattle feed mixer with hay chopper

The cattle feed mixer comprises a self-standing container having a cylindrical inner chamber in which is journaled a coaxial shaft rotatably carrying a number of radially extending paddles. An upper opening mouth allows hay and other cattle feed elements to be poured into the inner chamber, where the paddles are rotated to mix these elements together. Sector portions of a number of circular saw blades project into the inner chamber through slits made in the bottom of its inner wall, and rotate at high velocity to shear the hay carried thereagainst by the paddles. Once the mixing and cutting operations are completed, a discharge door is opened to allow the paddles to scoop the now homogeneous cattle feed out through a discharge opening, to be dispensed in suitable receptacles. The container has a collecting trough located under the slits of the saw blades, which is connected via an upwardly-extending sleeve to the inner chamber. Augers in the trough and in the sleeve allow particulate feed elements which have seeped through the blade slits, to be reintegrated into the inner chamber.
