The invention provides a method for preparing spherical
nickel hydroxide by using used
nickel-
metal hydride batteries. The method comprises the following steps of: disassembling the used
nickel-
metal hydride batteries, crushing cells, dissolving the cells and precipitating with
rare earth to obtain
aqueous solution with
rare earth removed, and then using an extractant organic solution to carry out counter-current extraction on the solution to extract out nickel,
cobalt and
zinc; carrying out back extraction by using an inorganic strong acid to obtain a strong acid inorganic
salt solution containing nickel,
cobalt and
zinc ions; supplementing corresponding
metal salts in the solution according to the difference between the amount of each metal element needed by preparation of spherical nickel
hydroxide and the amount of corresponding metal in the obtained strong acid inorganic
salt solution containing nickel,
cobalt and
zinc ions, so as to obtain the
raw material solution used for preparing spherical nickel
hydroxide, then proportionally adding the
raw material solution with other raw materials in a reaction container, and synthesising spherical nickel hydroxide. The method is simple in process, the strong acid inorganic
salt solution containing nickel, cobalt and zinc ions, which is obtained by back extraction, is directly used for preparing spherical nickel hydroxide, and the step of separation refining
crystallization is omitted, thus the efficiency is high and the cost can be reduced.
