Credit card system and method

A credit card system is provided which has the added feature of providing additional limited-use credit card numbers and / or cards. These numbers and / or cards can be used for a single transaction, thereby reducing the potential for fraudulent reuse of these numbers and / or cards. The credit card system finds application to “card remote” transactions such as by phone or Internet. Additionally, when a single use credit card is used for “card present” transactions, so called “skimming” fraud is eliminated. Various other features enhance the credit card system which will allow secure trade without the use of elaborate encryption techniques.

Risk identification system and methods

The present invention relates to a system and methods by which the risk associated with a new opportunity or new or ongoing relationship may be assessed. An example of such new opportunity or new relationship for which the present invention may be used to assess the risk is that concerning a potential new customer of a financial institution. The risk assessment of the present invention may be used to assess whether a new customer should be taken on as a customer and, if so, to what extent should the possible full range of account benefits be provided to the new customer. Other applications include assessing risk regarding a candidate for employment, assessing casualty loss and / or repayment risk in the insurance industry, and assessing risk in a landlord tenant relationship to determine whether or not to rent to the prospective tenant and if so, the amount of the security deposit.

Combined lighting, projection, and image capture without video feedback

A “Concurrent Projector-Camera” uses an image projection device in combination with one or more cameras to enable various techniques that provide visually flicker-free projection of images or video, while real-time image or video capture is occurring in that same space. The Concurrent Projector-Camera provides this projection in a manner that eliminates video feedback into the real-time image or video capture. More specifically, the Concurrent Projector-Camera dynamically synchronizes a combination of projector lighting (or light-control points) on-state temporal compression in combination with on-state temporal shifting during each image frame projection to open a “capture time slot” for image capture during which no image is being projected. This capture time slot represents a tradeoff between image capture time and decreased brightness of the projected image. Examples of image projection devices include LED-LCD based projection devices, DLP-based projection devices using LED or laser illumination in combination with micromirror arrays, etc.

Substrate processing apparatus and substrate processing method

A substrate processing apparatus has a fluid supply means 20 for supplying fluid to a substrate W and a fluid collection means 21 for collecting the fluid in the vicinity of the substrate W, the fluid supply means 20 having a fluid spurt section 20a, the fluid collection means 21 having a fluid suction section 21a opening in the vicinity of the fluid spurt section 20a. Since the fluid collection means 21 suctions and collects the fluid floating around the substrate W as a result of the liquid having been supplied from the fluid spurt section 20a to the substrate W, it is possible to prevent the substrate W from being contaminated after the substrate W being processed with the fluid supplied from the fluid supply means 20.

Fuel management fuel surcharge system and method

A fuel management system and method that permits accurate accounting of fuel consumption within the context of a fuel consuming system is disclosed. The system / method may be broadly described as comprising a fuel level sensor, fuel level sensor transponder, fuel accounting system, and optional regulated fuel dispenser. The fuel level sensor accurately determines the contents of a fuel tank. This information is reported via fuel sensor transponder to a fuel accounting system that tracks the fuel consumption of the fuel consuming system and provides billing information based on the detected fuel consumption. This accounting information may be utilized within an optional regulated fuel dispenser to refill / unfill the fuel tank to an accurately predetermined fuel level for the next fuel management accounting cycle. The present invention has many applications, including but not limited to management of rental / lease vehicles, transportation fuel surcharges, leased vehicle fleet returns, and / or fuel arbitrage.

Method for applying and curing by UV radiation a sealant system onto natural stone tiles to provide permanent sealing, protection, abrasion resistance, stain and mold resistance

The invention relates to a process for applying a liquid UV-curable primer sealant to natural stone tiles and related articles followed immediately by the exposure to a requisite amount of low intensity UVA-type UV radiation to partially cure the primer sealant. The partial curing, or pre-setting, of the primer sealant enables control of the ultimate depth of penetration of the primer sealer into the natural stone tiles and natural stone articles of which many examples are quite porous. Because the low level UV irradiation is instantaneous after the primer sealant application the level of primer sealant penetration into the natural stone surface is regulated. The pre-curing of the primer sealant is conducted to intentionally solidify or immobilize the sealant that has actually penetrated into the natural stone surface. The uppermost layers of the primer sealant are left in a semi-liquid or uncured state to allow for wetting and intermingling by the top sealant once it is applied. Thus, the prior art problem of uncontrolled wicking is solved by the present invention.

Differential pressure indicating device

A differential pressure indicator includes a multi-polar driving magnets train clamped on a piston pin that moves in response to the changes in pressure conditions, thereby driving a multi-polar follower magnet carrying an indicating member, to move across a scale for a total angular range of 90° to 270°. The exact angular displacement of the follower magnet per unit linear displacement of the driving magnets train is decided by varying the relative magnetic strengths of the driving and follower magnets or by varying the spacing between adjacent magnets of the driving magnetic train. Further, magnetic flux of an auxiliary magnet fitted on the piston pin at a 90° orientation relative to the driving magnet train is utilized for actuating a magnetic switch in the switch assembly.

Method and apparatus for permanent and safe disposal of radioactive waste

A method of disposing of radioactive waste comprising the steps of: providing a pressure-equalizing container; filling the pressure-equalizing container with radioactive waste; and burying the waste filled container in a subduction fault region of the earth's crust. For a preferred embodiment of the process, the waste filled containers are buried in the mud on the ocean floor in a subduction fault region. Preferably, the containers are placed on the ocean side of the fault, rather than the continental shelf side. The pressure-equalizing container is preferably fabricated from stainless steel, with a lead seal, although containers fabricated from ceramic materials may also be used. The waste-filled containers are transported by ship to the area above a subduction fault, and an unpressurized, remote-controlled “submarine crawler” takes a number of containers to the ocean floor and buries them there, individually, in the mud or sediments.
