Distributed voice user interface

A distributed voice user interface system includes a local device which receives speech input issued from a user. Such speech input may specify a command or a request by the user. The local device performs preliminary processing of the speech input and determines whether it is able to respond to the command or request by itself. If not, the local device initiates communication with a remote system for further processing of the speech input.

System and method for providing virtual desktop extensions on a client desktop

The system and method described herein may identify one or more virtual desktop extensions available in a cloud computing environment and launch virtual machine instances to host the available virtual desktop extensions in the cloud. For example, a virtual desktop extension manager may receive a virtual desktop extension request from a client desktop and determine whether authentication credentials for the client desktop indicate that the client desktop has access to the requested virtual desktop extension. In response to authenticating the client desktop, the virtual desktop extension manager may then launch a virtual machine instance to host the virtual desktop extension in the cloud and provide the client desktop with information for locally controlling the virtual desktop extension remotely hosted in the cloud.

Data federation methods and system

A method is provided for processing tree like data structures in a streaming manner. An initial context of name / value bindings is set up. A tree of objects is constructed. Each element in the tree of objects is represented as a function object that accepts a context parameter and a target parameter that it can send a stream of start, content, and end events to represent tree output. The parse tree of objects is examined for element names that are recognized as commands. The commands are converted to special function objects that implement command's semantics. Other elements, that are not recognized as commands, are mapped to a default function object.

System and method for distributed virtual assistant platforms

Virtual assistant systems (“VAs”) operate on a distributed and interconnected network, such as a hierarchy or mesh, of virtual assistant platforms (“VAPs”). VAs communicate with a user via an electronic device, and can communicate with other devices, software programs, and other VAs. VAs include intelligent agents configured to perform particular tasks. The VAP includes an execution environment that may provide an interface between the VA and the electronic device, and may further provide a framework of services for implementing, maintaining, and executing the intelligent agents. A VA may be configured to participate in a group VA in which knowledge and tasks can be shared and cooperatively executed. Cooperative execution can include distributing subtasks among VAs in the group VA, the subtasks together forming the task. Group VAs can share information with each other, and may further inter-network by accessing a common network outside the VAP, such as a social network.

Secure Wireless Access to Medical Data

A method is disclosed that allows secure access to medical data. A device application running on a wireless device, optionally including associated scanners, acquires a patient's biometric information (e.g., a finger-print at a resolution exceeding 250 ppi using the display as a proximity flash-camera). An encrypted representation of the biometric data is wirelessly transmitted to a secure data center. A server application at the remote data center decrypts the data and compares it to a database for positive identification purposes. Relevant pre-approved medical data for the identified patient is automatically retrieved from a secure database of patient information, encrypted and sent to the wireless device by the server application. The received data is decrypted by the device application and displayed by the wireless device for use by the medical practitioner. The patient may also maintain and update his / her medical record through this method and device.

Lottery ticket security method

In a method for manufacturing instant lottery tickets where book numbers and ticket numbers are printed on the tickets utilizing a dual security process such that the book numbers are shuffled in each pool before the tickets are printed to break the link between the book numbers the ticket numbers or validation numbers, a reversing process can be used under certain predefined conditions to relate the original book numbers to the ticket numbers or validation numbers. In one example, where a shuffling algorithm utilizing seeds is used to shuffle the book numbers, the seeds used in the algorithm are maintained in an encrypted file. A decryption key for the encrypted seed file can be used by a lottery administration or trusted third party to reconstruct game play indicia for game adjustment purposes and manufacturing adjustments. To enhance security, the independent third party can also be used to administer the encryption and decryption keys during the ticket manufacturing process and during life of the instant ticket game.

Method and system of sparse code based object classification with sensor fusion

A system and method for object classification based upon the fusion of a radar system and a natural imaging device using sparse code representation. The radar system provides a means of detecting the presence of an object within a predetermined path of a vehicle. Detected objects are then fused with the image gathered by the camera and then isolated in an attention window. The attention window is then transformed into a sparse code representation of the object. The sparse code representation is then compared with known sparse code representation of various objects. Each known sparse code representation is given a predetermined variance and subsequent sparse code represented objects falling within said variance will be classified as such. The system and method also includes an associative learning algorithm wherein classified sparse code representations are stored and used to help classifying subsequent sparse code representation.

Variable rate RC calibration circuit with filter cut-off frequency programmability

Two reference signals are applied to an RC calibration circuit, which utilizes programmable resistors and switched capacitor resistors in parallel at the inputs of a differential amplifier with feedback capacitors, for the first cycle and then the two reference signals are swapped for the successive cycle. The circuit inherent DC offset is cancelled by these two successive cycles. The time duration when the difference of the differential amplifier outputs in the calibration circuit starts to reverse ramping direction and the time when the difference crosses zero is counted in terms of reference clock cycles by a binary counter. The binary count is used to select the capacitance of the capacitor arrays in an RC filter for time constant calibration. This calibration circuit provides the flexibility for various reference clock rates by adjusting the programmable resistors. By tuning the same programmable resistors, this calibration circuit in addition provides the capability to changing the cut-off frequency of an RC filter circuit to another predetermined value.
