Method for surface corona/ozone making, devices utilizing the same and methods for corona and ozone applications

A method for making surface corona discharge, which produces ozone gas and apparatus for producing the same are disclosed, in which a dielectric spacer / film having a specific capacity C' equal to or more than 200 nanofarad per square meter positioned between the base electrode and the net electrode. Said net electrode is a wire net or a perforated metal or a wire winding having an open area not less than about 70%, and a size of hole D equals to or less than about 0.7V / P, where V is a voltage in kilovolts and P is pressure of an ambient air or an oxygen in atmospheres. Net electrode has radius R of wire or radius of an edge of openings in the perforated metal equal to or more than about 1.6d, where d is the thickness of the said dielectric spacer / film, which is determined by a fundamental formula d=9k / C', where d is in millimeters, C' is in nF / m2, and k is dimensionless dielectric constant k of given material. Under disclosed parameters said surface corona is safe for human contact if said net electrode is grounded. Start voltage Vst of ozone production is determined by experimental formula Vst=0.7+60 / C', kV, here C' in nF / m2. The even and high intensity corona surface and high ozone output takes place if the operating voltage is more than about 3Vst. AC power supply is applied to produce ozone gas at "home" voltage 0.7-1.0 kV and produces ozone gas more effectively at 2,5-3.6 kV. A method for disinfection and decontamination of objects by using the direct corona contact and apparatus for making the same is disclosed, in which safe corona surface is placed on said object and is acting by ozone, ultraviolet and ion bombing simultaneously in the unique environment, which takes place inside of the safe corona. A method for ozone disinfection and decontamination and devices for making the same is disclosed, in which said ozone generating element is placed in a closed container / room with or without treated objects and produce a high ozone concentration due to effective ozone dispersion from corona surface without blowing of air / oxygen through said container / room.

Noise reduction mechanism of fan device and molding method of porous damping material therefor

Porous damping material (40) is attached to an entire inner circumference of the fan shroud (20) opposing to an end of a fan (4) and is exposed to opposing space without using conventional perforated metal. Accordingly, jet noise caused by strong swirl between the fan (4) and the fan shroud (20) can be damped by the damping material (40) and impulsive sound scarcely occurs. Thus, both of the impulsive sound and the jet noise can be effectively damped, thereby securely reducing noise. The pours member (401) constituting the porous damping material (40) is a die-molding product made by a die (150) having a cavity (153).

InactiveUS20070215612A1Uniform of microwave energyUniform power densityMicrowave heatingMicrowave cavityEngineering
A microwave heating apparatus is designed to improve distribution of the microwaves introduced into a multi-mode microwave cavity for heating or other selected applications. The microwave heating apparatus includes a microwave signal generator and a waveguide to convey microwave power to the cavity. A perforated metal plate disposed within the cavity encloses a volume adjacent to the waveguide opening, forming a leaky multimode subcavity. Through multiple processes of reflection, transmission, diffraction, and scattering, the leaky subcavity serves to smooth the microwave power distribution in the near-field region adjacent to the waveguide to better disperse the energy throughout the main applicator cavity. A more uniform level of microwave power is thereby applied to the workpiece.

Electrostatic loudspeaker capable of dispersing sound both horizontally and vertically

ActiveUS20070242844A1Improved dispersion of soundIncreased angular dispersion of soundElectrostatic transducer loudspeakersFrequency/directions obtaining arrangementsEffect lightEngineering
An acoustic transducer, specifically an electrostatic loudspeaker (ESL) providing curvature in two directions for improved dispersion of sound waves. The compound curvature also provides a virtual focus of the propagated sound waves for accurate reproduction of musical program material recorded with standard single-point microphones. The highly directional nature of high frequency sound waves requires that a flat or cylindrical electrostatic transducer must be physically tall to allow a listener to either recline or stand. The two-axis curved structure enables a compact form of ESL to be realized, including bookshelf type loudspeakers whereas all known commercial units are comparable in height to that of a human listener. The individual curved ESL panels can also be readily combined to create larger transducer assemblies including omni-directional units. A preferred stator panel hole-geometry is included for improved high voltage operation of coated perforated metal stator panels, and methods of forming the metal panel are described. The artistic nature of the two-dimensionally curved electrostatic transducer also lends itself to other non-traditional forms such as integration into lighting fixtures and other such architectural uses.

Gas burner

A radiative heat gas burner is described of the type which may be used to fire a domestic grill. The burner head has an inlet port and comprises a pressing which together with a perforated metal sheet defines a chamber in which a combustion gas flows prior to flowing through the perforations in the sheet and combusting thereon. The sheet of metal sealingly connected to the pressing forms a combustion surface on which the combustion of gas flowing through the perforations occurs, but the invention lies in the discovery that it is not necessary to provide large apertures in the sheet which reveal portions of gauze sheets disposed parallely behind the combustion surface and which glow and thus radiate heat during operation of the burner. It is merely necessary to provide a pattern of small perforations over the entire surface of the combustion sheet, the number of said perforations being sufficient to allow for sufficient gas flow therethrough to support stable combustion, and their pattern being ideally in rows which intersect with other rows in a substantially perpendicular manner.
