1732 results about "Voltage controller" patented technology

A voltage controller, also called an AC voltage controller or AC regulator is an electronic module based on either thyristors, TRIACs, SCRs or IGBTs, which converts a fixed voltage, fixed frequency alternating current (AC) electrical input supply to obtain variable voltage in output delivered to a resistive load. This varied voltage output is used for dimming street lights, varying heating temperatures in homes or industry, speed control of fans and winding machines and many other applications, in a similar fashion to an autotransformer. Voltage controller modules come under the purview of power electronics. Because they are low-maintenance and very efficient, voltage controllers have largely replaced such modules as magnetic amplifiers and saturable reactors in industrial use.

Power supply rail controller

A power supply rail controller operates on an analog component having a signal input, a power input and a signal output. A voltage controller provides a control output responsive to the signal output. A power supply generates a voltage for the power input, where the voltage is responsive to the control output. The voltage is reduced in magnitude to reduce power dissipation and increased in magnitude to avoid signal distortion.

Circuit for controlling LED with temperature compensation

A circuit for controlling an LED with temperature compensation is employed in the LED-based system. The circuit of the invention linearly controls luminance and color of the LED according to temperature change and more precisely compensates for temperature-related variations in LED properties. Also, the circuit saves the cost of the product due to no requirement of a microprocessor. In the circuit, a waveform generator generates a sawtooth wave for Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control. A temperature detector detects a voltage via a resistance value which is linearly variable according to changes in an ambient temperature. A PWM controller compares the sawtooth wave from the wave generator with the detection voltage from the temperature detector and generates a PWM voltage having a duty determined by the comparison result.

Method and apparatus for AD conversion, semiconductor device for detecting distribution of physical quantity, and electronic apparatus

A column analog-to-digital converter having a voltage comparator and a counter is arranged for each a vertical signal line. The voltage comparator compares a pixel signal inputted via the vertical signal line at each row control signal line with a reference voltage, thereby generating a pulse signal having a length in time axis corresponding to the magnitude of a reset component and a signal component. The counter counts a clock to measure the width of the pulse signal until the end of the comparison operation of the comparator, and stores a count at the end of the comparison. A communication and timing controller controls the voltage comparator and the counter so that, in a first process, the voltage comparator performs a comparison operation on a reset component with the counter performing a down-counting operation, and so that, in a second process, the voltage controller performs the comparison operation on a signal component with the counter performing an up-counting operation.

Primary-side controlled flyback power converter

The present invention provides a primary-side flyback power converter that supplies a constant voltage output and a constant current output. To generate a well-regulated output voltage under varying load conditions, a PWM controller is included in the power converter in order to generate a PWM signal controlling a switching transistor in response to a flyback voltage sampled from a first primary winding of the power supply transformer. Several improvements are included in this present invention to overcome the disadvantages of prior-art flyback power converters. Firstly, the flyback energy of the first primary winding is used as a DC power source for the PWM controller in order to reduce power consumption. A double sample amplifier samples the flyback voltage just before the transformer current drops to zero. Moreover, an offset current is pulled from a detection input of the double sample amplifier in order to generate a more accurate DC output voltage. The offset current is generated in response to the temperature in order to compensate for temperature-induced voltage fluctuations across the output rectifier. Ultimately, in order to maintain a constant output current, the PWM controller modulates the switching frequency in response to the output voltage.

Failure detecting device for supercharging-pressure control means in supercharging device of engine

When an engine load QC is equal to or larger than a predetermined value, an acceleration-state determiner determines that a turbine is in an acceleration state, and a supercharging-pressure-control-state determiner determines that supercharging-pressure controller (a bypass valve, a wastegate, and a variable flap) of a turbocharger are in a maximum supercharging pressure control state (a closed valve state), i.e., when a delay coefficient α of the turbocharger calculated by a delay-coefficient calculator on the basis of an actual supercharging pressure πc and a convergent value πc* of a supercharging pressure calculated by a convergent-value calculator indicates a value peculiar to the turbocharger, a failure of the supercharging-voltage controller is determined on the basis of the delay coefficient α. Thus, it is possible to secure a high failure detection accuracy, and increase a frequency of performing failure detection even when the engine load QC suddenly changes to cause a delay in a response of the supercharging pressure πc.
