Methods and apparatus are disclosed for applying acoustic energy to the skin. Acoustic waveguides with elements of varying thickness or shape are disclosed which deliver energy to more than one depth below a surface of the skin substantially simultaneously. The invention is especially useful with devices that focus ultrasound energy by condensing a propagating wavefront. The invention compensates for the mismatch in acoustic properties of the device's waveguide and the biological tissue that typically cause portions of the collapsing wavefront to lag behind other portions and, thereby, limit the focusing capabilities of acoustic treatment devices.

Both ends of the lead arrangement project outward from side surfaces of a package to form outer lead regions. Thus, cut surfaces of lead connection portions with edged corners are not exposed. This arrangement prevents that the cut surfaces damage other devices.

Users input data by applying pressure on the cover which causes the display screen to deflect and activate the sensors. The pressure exerted on the sensors is triangulated to register the position of the user input. In another embodiment, the cover is transparent, rigid, and directly contacts the pressure activated sensors which are located in front of the display screen or in the housing behind it. When pressure is applied to the cover, the cover deflects and activates the sensors. In both embodiments, an accelerometer identifies valid input events.

Sport helmet

A helmet padding consists of sets of one or more tubes, with each set of tubes located at a crucial area of the shell of the helmet. An armature and tubes are connected together and mounted within the inner shell of the helmet. The helmet uses a new fastener to fasten a cage to the helmet shell allowing sides of the cage to be mounted directly against the shell, reducing the width of the shell on each side. A ball is attached to a portion of a bar of the cage to act as a limit stop precluding movements of the cage with respect to the helmet. A chin bar is fastened to the helmet at two points on each side of the shell. The shell is molded with recessed portions designed to receive the two branches of the chin bar on each side where they will be fastened to the shell so that the outer surfaces of the chin guard are flush with the shell at the locations of attachment to provide a smooth transition and reduce weight. An adjustment device to adjust the fit of the helmet to the user includes a star wheel on each side of the helmet attached to an arcuate flexible strip extending rearwardly around the occipital area of the skull. A sliding mechanism attached to the strip allows the strip to be moved forward and backward to allow it to be tightened or loosened, respectively, with respect to the player's head. A ratcheting lateral adjustment device is also disclosed.

The present invention provides an electrical raft comprising a rigid material having multiple electrical conductors embedded therein. The electrical raft comprises an electrical connector having a first set of electrical contacts connected to at least one of the electrical conductors, a second set of electrical contacts for electrical connection to another component, and a housing having a first end and a second end. The first set of electrical contacts is at the first end and the second set of electrical contacts is at the second end. The first end of the housing is at least partly embedded in the rigid material, and the second end of the housing is accessible from outside the electrical raft, allowing the electrical raft to be electrically connected to said other component. The electrical connector has a back-shell which sealingly encloses the first end of the housing to prevent ingress of contaminants into the connector.
