The invention relates to a geocell and a construction method thereof. The geocell comprises a plurality of stripes and micro-pile structures for connecting adjacent stripes, wherein every two adjacent stripes are partially attached to form a joint node, the part, between every two adjacent joint nodes, of each stripe forms a cell side wall, and one cell is defined by four cell side walls through the corresponding joint nodes; each micro-pile structure comprises a first columnar body and a second columnar body which are attached to two sides of each joint node, and the first columnar body, the second columnar body and the joint node are welded into an integral structure. By arranging the micro-pile structures at the joint nodes of the geocell, the inter-stripe welding area is increased, and the peel strength of weld nodes is improved, so that the structure of the geocell is more stable. Further, with adoption of the micro-pile structures, the area of contact with soil mass is increased, frictional resistance is increased, constraining force for the soil mass is increased, and accordingly, deformation and settlement of a subgrade are reduced.
