The invention relates to a heating and/or cooling system (2) for a motor vehicle with a combustion engine (4) and a catalytic converter (8) arranged in the exhaust gas path (6) of the combustion engine (4), comprising a burner (10) attached before the catalytic converter (8) to the exhaust gas path (6) as well as a heat exchanger (12) for transmitting heat generated in the burner (10) to a heating and/or cooling circuit (28) of the motor vehicle. It is proposed that the heat exchanger (12) be arranged behind the catalytic converter (8) in the exhaust gas path (6) of the combustion engine (4) and can be acted upon through the catalytic converter (8) with hot combustion gases from the burner (10).

A Laser system is disclosed which comprises a pump, wherein the laser system is adapted to be operated in pulsed operation so that at least one individual pulse of a temporally limited pulse duration (T₀) is generated, wherein the pulse ablates a material such that a debris cloud forms above the ablated material. Further, the pump power of the pump is modulated in such a way that the following three conditions are fulfilled: (1) the intensity of the pulse oscillates between maximum values and minimum values during the pulse duration, wherein the laser pulse comprises a plurality of intensity maxima I_max which occur at times {T_i, i=1, . . . N}; and a plurality of intensity minima I_min which occur at times {t_k, k=1, . . . (N−1)}, wherein the intensity does not vanish at the intensity minima; (2) the intensity oscillations of the laser pulse induce oscillations of the size of the debris cloud so that, during the pulse duration (T₀), there are at least two maxima of the size of the debris cloud which occur at times {t_j, J=1, . . . M} and which are located in between two intensity maxima of the laser pulse; and (3) at least 70 percent of the maxima of the size of the debris cloud occur near an intensity minimum of the pulse such that, for at least 70 percent of the maxima of the size of the debris cloud, the intensity of the pulse I(t_j) at the time of the maximum of the size of the debris cloud is smaller than I_min(t_k)+0.5× [I_max(T_i)−I_min(t_k)], wherein I_min(t_k) is the intensity minimum of the pulse which is closest to the maximum of the size of the debris cloud at time t_j and I_max(T_i) is the intensity maximum of the pulse which is closest to the maximum of the size of the debris cloud at time t_j.

A belt-type fixing device for an image forming apparatus is capable of raising a temperature to a level suitable for a fixing process in a short period of time with high heating efficiency. A fixing belt is entrained in spanning relation between a heating plate providing a heat generator on the inner surface of the semi-cylindrical plate and a pressing pad disposed at a distance from the heating plate. A pressing roller is disposed at a position opposing the pressing pad. The fixing belt is revolved by rotating the pressing roller. Method for separating blood plasma particles from a blood plasma suspension in a self-discharging centrifuge having two or more discharge slits and axially stacked baffle plates, in which the blood plasma particles are separated from the liquid phase by centrifuging and removal of the liquid phase, suctioning off liquid remaining in the drum after separation of the blood plasma particles and discharging the sediment of solid blood plasma particles from the drum by centrifugal force into a collecting container underneath the drum, the drum and the blood plasma sediment being cooled during one or more of the process steps.

According to the invention, a sealing top plate in a multi-chip module is formed from a ceramic with high thermal conductivity having a thermal expansion coefficient consistent with that of a multi-layer circuit substrate. A cooling flow path cover covering the entirety of cooling flow path grooves is formed as a separate metallic member. The back surface of the sealing top plate, on which are formed the cooling flow path grooves, is bonded directly to the back surface of a semiconductor device using solder. A heating system includes a flow circuit carrying working fluid at a set flow temperature to a heat emitting section, an electricity driven heat pump having a first heat exchanger, and a fuel fired boiler having a second heat exchanger. The first and second heat exchangers arc connected to the flow circuit to heat the working fluid in succession. A coefficient of performance (COP_{Set Flow Temperature}) of the heat pump and a break even coefficient of performance (BECOP) are determined, and the COP_{Set Flow Temperature} and BECOP compared. If the COP_{Set Flow temperature} is smaller than the BECOP in a first hybrid mode, an intermediate flow temperature is determined, the heat pump is operated to heat the working fluid to the intermediate flow temperature and the boiler is operated to heat the working fluid to the set flow temperature.

The embodiment of the present invention discloses a charging control method and system. The method includes a step of receiving a high-voltage power-on instruction sent by a VCU, closing a main negative relay, and connecting a negative output end of a battery pack to a negative connecting end of a load circuit, a step of closing a first pre-charge relay in a first pre-charge circuit when a condition that the front and back voltage of the main negative relay reaches target voltage is monitored, accessing the first pre-charge circuit and carrying out pre-charge on a high voltage loop, a step of carrying out fault reporting when the pre-charge of a load loop is completed in T1 after closing the first pre-charge relay is monitored and stopping high-voltage power-on, and a step of disconnecting the first pre-charge relay when a condition that a ratio of the voltage of the load loop to the voltage of the battery pack is smaller than a preset ratio in T2 after closing the first pre-charge relay, accessing the second pre-charge circuit, and repeating the above flow. According to the embodiment of the present invention, an abnormal condition in a pre-charge process can be timely diagnosed.

A fluid heater includes an inner pipe and an outer pipe. The outer pipe surrounds the periphery of the inner pipe and is located separate from the inner pipe. The fluid heater further includes two sealed elements located apart from each other and between the inner pipe and the outer pipe. The inner pipe, the outer pipe and the two sealed elements define a sealed room. A heating module is located in the sealed room.

The present invention provides immersion heating elements, water heaters and methods for their fabrication and use. In the first embodiment of this invention, a resistance heating element is provided which includes a resistance heating material and an electrically insulating, substantially water impervious sheath disposed over the resistance heating material to form an active element portion having an envelope of about 50 in,.sup.3 a total wattage of at least 1000 W, and a watt density of no greater than 60 W/in..sup.2 Such an element has been demonstrated to substantially reduce scale reduction in water containing calcium, calcium carbonate, or both in solution.

A two-component composition, containing at least one silane-group-containing polymer that is liquid at room temperature, at least one epoxide liquid resin, at least one polyetheramine, and at least one aminosilane or mercaptosilane. The composition has low odor, cures quickly and without blistering at room temperature, and, when cured, forms a tough elastic material of high strength, high adhesive force, and good thermal resistance that has no tendency toward yellowing or substrate discoloration. The composition is excellently suitable as a tough elastic adhesive for structural adhesive joints in the field of construction and in industrial production.

To provide an electrophotographic toner, which contains a crystalline resin, a non-crystalline resin, a colorant, and a releasing agent, wherein the toner has a storage elastic modulus of 5.0×10⁴ Pa to 5.0×10⁶ Pa at 80° C., and a storage elastic modulus of 2.0×10² Pa to 2.0×10³ Pa at 140° C., and wherein the toner has a ratio (C)/((C)+(A)) of 0.10 or greater, where (C) is an integrated intensity of a diffraction spectrum derived from a crystalline structure, (A) is an integrated intensity of a diffraction spectrum derived from a non-crystalline structure, and the diffraction spectrum is a diffraction spectrum of the toner as measured by an X-ray diffraction spectrometer.

Disclosed is a method for recovering carbon dioxide from a gas containing carbon dioxide, comprising the step (1) of bringing a gas containing carbon dioxide into contact with an aqueous solution containing 2-isopropylaminoethanol and at least one substance selected from the group consisting of piperazines and alkanolamines to absorb carbon dioxide into the aqueous solution; and the step (2) of heating the aqueous solution containing carbon dioxide absorbed therein, which is obtained in the step (1), to separate and recover carbon dioxide from the solution.

A cooling system is adapted for reduction of evaporative loss of a liquid coolant and for efficient cooling of plural electronic devices densely accommodated in a cooling bath of a small volume. A cooling system accommodates plural electronic devices in an open space of a cooling bath provided with an inlet port and an outlet port for a liquid coolant. The cooling system is configured to directly cool the electronic devices by immersion of the electronic devices in the liquid coolant circulated in the open space. The liquid coolant contains a perfluorinated compound as a main component. The liquid coolant is adapted to exhibit a liquid weight loss percentage of 1.5% or less as determined by allowing 10 ml of the liquid coolant in a 10-ml measuring cylinder (opening diameter: 11.5 mm) to spontaneously evaporate under normal environment at a room temperature of 25° C. for 100 hours.

A process for producing a modified conjugated diene polymer includes subjecting an active terminal of a conjugated diene polymer having a vinyl content of less than 10% and a cis-1,4 bond content of 75% or more to a modification reaction with an alkoxysilane compound, and subjecting the alkoxysilane compound (residue) to a condensation reaction in an aqueous solution at a pH of 9 to 14 and a temperature of 85 to 180° C. in the presence of a condensation accelerator including a compound containing titanium. The modified conjugated diene polymer exhibits low heat build-up and increased reinforcing properties when used for a rubber composition, and exhibits excellent wear resistance, mechanical characteristics, and processability.
