Structures and methods for three-dimensional image sensing using high frequency modulation includes CMOS-implementable sensor structures using differential charge transfer, including such sensors enabling rapid horizontal and slower vertical dimension local charge collection. Wavelength response of such sensors can be altered dynamically by varying gate potentials. Methods for producing such sensor structures on conventional CMOS fabrication facilities include use of “rich” instructions to command the fabrication process to optimize image sensor rather than digital or analog ICs. One detector structure has closely spaced-apart, elongated finger-like structures that rapidly collect charge in the spaced-apart direction and then move collected charge less rapidly in the elongated direction. Detector response is substantially independent of the collection rate in the elongated direction.

Moisture that is absorbed by the hydrophilic first knit portion is wicked into the hydrophobic second knit portion and subsequently evaporates. A precision soft-touch end effector has a mounting plate attached to a robot arm. The plate supports a stepper motor. The output shaft of the stepper motor is connected through a spring to an elongated finger that slides in a central longitudinal slot of the plate and supports a first wafer gripping post, while on the end opposite to the first wafer gripping post the mounting plate pivotally supports two L-shaped fingers with a second and third wafer gripping posts on their respective ends. A gallium nitride based semiconductor Schottky diode fabricated from a n+ doped GaN layer having a thickness between one and six microns disposed on a sapphire substrate; an n− doped GaN layer having a thickness greater than one micron disposed on said n+ GaN layer patterned into a plurality of elongated fingers and a metal layer disposed on the n− doped GaN layer and forming a Schottky junction therewith. The layer thicknesses and the length and width of the elongated fingers are optimized to achieve a device with breakdown voltage of greater than 500 volts, current capacity in excess of one ampere, and a forward voltage of less than three volts.

An improved hydraulic coupling includes a fitting and a nut that are threadably connectable together. The fitting includes a generally annular groove having a lateral frusto-conic engagement surface. The nut includes a plurality of elongated fingers that each include a projection having an outwardly-disposed edge. When the coupling is assembled, the edges are frictionally engaged with the engagement surface as a result of the elastic deflection of the fingers. The frusto-conic shape of the engagement surface provides progressively greater frictional resistance in a direction of unthreading of the coupling, whereby loosening of the coupling during operation of the fluid circuit is resisted.

The present invention provides a wire lug arc vent barrier for protecting a wire lug in a molded case circuit breaker, with the circuit breaker having a housing with a terminal for a load connection and a terminal for a line connection. The wire lug/arc vent barrier comprises a body having a first end including a tang, a second end including an elongated finger and a middle portion between the first end and the second end defining a concave space, with an opening at each of the middle portion, wherein the body is mounted in the housing.

A cutting tool includes a housing having a first end with a first edge and a second end. A handle adapted to receive a hand is formed in the housing. The housing encloses a first blade which has a cutting position when the first blade extends from the housing and a retracted position with the blade inside the housing. An elongated finger portion is extended from the first end of the housing. The finger portion and the first edge define an elongated opening having a junction at the first end of the housing. A second blade is embedded in the housing at the preferred angle of 19.5 percent and diagonally spans the opening and the junction. A biasing means repositions the first blade from the retracted position to the cutting position. The first blade makes a slit in the packaging. The elongated finger is then inserted into the opening and the second blade enlarges the slit to the desired length to remove the item from its packaging.

The application discloses a fishing bobber comprising a floatable housing that contains a sound transducer. An elongated finger extends upwardly from the bobber housing. A balloon is place over the finger to provide a sound passage. Electronic circuitry mounted in the housing includes means for triggering the sound transducer into an active state to oscillate at an audio frequency when the housing is being pulled down into the water to thereby audibly alert the user that a fish has taken the bait.

A method and robot-based automation system are provided for cryogenic crystal sample mounting, for example, for use for cryogenic crystal sample mounting in the x-ray crystallography station at an x-ray source. The system includes a robot arm carrying a handset. The handset includes a pair of elongated fingers for sample mounting, and each finger carrying a set of strain gauge arrays for providing force sensing. A slim finger design allows a sample mounting process with no interference with the beam stop, cryostreem and x-ray detectors. The handset can detect the contact force intensity and direction; provide a precise gripping action; and feel the results of the gripping. The finger design incorporates a mechanism to maintain the sample temperature well below the cryogenic safety margin for the crystal viability. A Dewar container is provided with an ice control system and liquid nitrogen flow control. A triangular sample magazine maximizes the Dewar space usage. A miniature kinematical mounting sample holder provides near micron positioning repeatability. These capabilities make the robot-arm more powerful, flexible, and reliable.

A plastic tine for mounting on a support tube of a harvester reel has a generally C-shaped mounting base that snaps onto the backside of the tube and an elongated finger that projects outwardly and normally downwardly from the mounting base. A generally C-shaped clip, oriented reversely to the mounting base, partially surrounds the front side of the support tube and is connected to one leg of the mounting base in such a manner that a free end of the clip can be swung toward and away from a corresponding opposite leg of the mounting base. Interlocking structure on the free end of the clip and corresponding distal end of the mounting base retains the clip in place against the front side of the support tube when the clip is fully installed. A special guard protectively overlies the free end of the mounting clip when it is locked to the mounting base so as to prevent accidental dislodgment by crop materials and residue during field operations. Provision is made for attachment of the tine to the tube by a threaded fastener in case the clip is dislodged or unavailable in the field. Alternative embodiments include an integral one-piece construction wherein the clip is integral with the rest of the tine and a separate two-part construction wherein the clip is a separate piece attachable to the rest of the tine.

An ergonomic cane comprises at least one finger hole and at least one elongated finger slot disposed within a handle portion. A cane portion projects downwardly from the handle to support a user when in use. In one embodiment, the handle also provides electronic access to media such as radio or mp3 or other audio formats. A storage interface input is provided such as USB or SD card etc. to allow a user to customize their listening experience. In one embodiment a siren is provided to allow a user to activate a very loud sound in case of an emergency. A forged sickle bar hold-down formed with a reduced transverse cross-sectional area and a first hole therethrough positioned toward the rear end of the hold-down is disclosed. The hold-down includes a second hole therethrough positioned between the reduced cross-sectional area and the first hole. In use, an attachment bolt is positioned through the first hole and a support bar and rigidly affixed thereto. A threaded adjustment bolt is inserted through the second hole and the support bar to selectively draw down on that portion of the hold-down forward of the reduced transverse cross-sectional area and thereby flex the forward portion of the hold-down which includes an elongated finger-like body portion with a knife section facing area.

A consumer appliance, such as a refrigerator, includes a door attached to the casing along a hinge side of the door. An elongated finger guard is pivotally mounted to a back surface of the door along the hinge side of the door. The finger guard has an extension portion with a floating edge and is pivotally biased to swing away from the appliance casing so that the floating edge of the extension portion engages against an item, such as a cabinet, adjacent to the appliance casing. In one aspect of the invention, a charger for use in a system for separating particles from a fluid flow is disclosed. In one embodiment, the charger comprises a body including an inlet for receiving the particles, a chamber in which the particles are received, and an outlet for discharging the particles. A rotor having a generally non-permeable surface is positioned in the chamber and rotated for contacting and charging the particles. In another aspect of the invention, grid electrodes with elongated fingers are proposed for use in a novel separation system. Related methods of charging and separating particles are also disclosed.

All program-control screens and switches are arranged on a cover type control platform, and the voltage of 220 V is adopted.

A microtool mount includes an elongated finger terminating in a tip. The finger has a pair of valley edges from which valley walls descend to terminate in a valley floor, thereby defining a valley between the valley walls and floor. The valley extends from the tip along a path parallel to at least a portion of the length of the finger. A microcapillary or other rodlike microtool may be accommodated within the valley, and a fastening member, preferably a magnet, may be removably affixed to the finger above the valley to maintain the microtool within the valley. The valley edges are preferably planar along at least a portion of the length of the finger so as to allow the magnet to more firmly affix to the finger.

A guiding device wherein an illustrated embodiment of the guiding device includes an elongated finger-resting surface, an elongated upstanding section, and an elongated first scale-supporting section. The first scale is an elongated, narrow strip having a first scale surface rigidly and unreleasably attached to the first scale-supporting section of the second portion. The finger-resting surface permits fingers of a user gripping the guiding device to be positioned on the finger-resting surface while being protected from an implement by the upstanding section during movement of the implement along the guiding device, adjacent the first scale.
