Method to solve via poisoning for porous low-k dielectric

A method of forming a via in a low-k dielectric material and without the attendant via poisoning problem, or a dual damascene structure formed in the same dielectric and without the same problem are disclosed. The vertical walls of the via opening are first lined with a low-k protection layer and then covered with a barrier layer in order to prevent outgassing from the low-k dielectric material when copper is deposited into the via opening. In the case of a dual damascene structure, it is sufficient that the hole opening underlying the trench opening is first lined with the low-k protection layer. The resulting via or dual damascene structure is free of poisoned metal and, therefore, more reliable.

Valved ostomy drainage device

The valved ostomy drainage device of the present invention includes a primary conduit which may be inserted into either a colonoscopy or ileostomy. Once inserted, a balloon cuff or collar on the inner aspect of the conduit is inflated which holds the conduit in place in the ostomy. The conduit is anchored on the exterior surface of the patient by a soft, malleable ring which acts as a resilient pad seal and by an anchoring collar which mounts onto the exposed end of the conduit to sandwich the ring against the patient's abdomen. With the collar so mounted the remaining exposed end of the conduit is adapted for sealing by the releasable mounting thereon of a rigid sealing member such as a threaded cap or other means of closure. A flexible one-way valve mounted in the conduit inhibits waste such as bowel contents or stool extruding through the conduit until the cap is removed and the one-way valve biased open by a secondary conduit inserted into the primary conduit and pushed against the one-way valve so as to open the valve.

Continuous balloon structures - 2

A structural, informative and / or decorative balloon display is comprised of a plurality of connected, inflatable chambers formed by a plurality of die applications to a plurality of layers of film. The largest die application produces a set of seals that encompasses an area smaller than the area encompassed by all such sets of seals. In one preferred embodiment connected chambers have and maintain fluid communication. In another preferred embodiment, connected, inflatable chambers have no fluid communication but have a beginning and an end. In other preferred embodiments fluid communication is terminated after inflation. Other embodiments take advantage of variations of numbers of layers, configurations of layers, and treatment of surfaces to create special balloon forms.

Single use catheter

The single use catheter has a lumen with a hydrophobic filter tip at one end. The lumen is divided into two parallel conduits. A first conduit terminates in a one-way valve. A syringe is attached to the one-way valve. Air, saline solution or sterilized water can be introduced through the one-way valve and inflate a cuff about the lumen. The second parallel conduit terminates in a charcoal filter for elimination of bowel gas. The one-way valve prevents deflation of the cuff unless the lumen is cut to allow the fluid from the cuff to exit and deflate the cuff.

Metallization of polymer composite parts for painting

The quality of painted surfaces of polymer composites is improved by first forming an electroless metal coating on the molded surface of the composite and then electroplating a coating of zinc or zinc alloy on the metallized composite surface. The “galvanized” composite surface provides a good base for electrostatic deposition of either liquid or powder paint and the zinc surface prevents the formation of defects in the painted surface during heating of the composite to dry or cure the paint film.
