To detect air in a fluid delivery line of an infusion system, infusion fluid is pumped through a fluid delivery line adjacent to at least one sensor. A signal is transmitted and received using the at least one sensor into and from the fluid delivery line. The at least one sensor is operated, using at least one processor, at a modified frequency which is different than a resonant frequency of the at least one sensor to reduce an amplitude of an output of the signal transmitted from the at least one sensor to a level which is lower than a saturation level of the analog-to-digital converter to avoid over-saturating the analog-to-digital converter. The signal received by the at least one sensor is converted from analog to digital using an analog-to-digital converter. The at least one processor determines whether air is in the fluid delivery line based on the converted digital signal.

The at least one sensor is operated, using at least one processor, at a modified frequency which is different than a resonant frequency of the at least one sensor to reduce an amplitude of an output of the signal transmitted from the at least one sensor to a level which is lower than a saturation level of the analog-to-digital converter to avoid over-saturating the analog-to-digital converter. The signal received by the at least one sensor is converted from analog to digital using an analog-to-digital converter. The at least one processor determines whether air is in the fluid delivery line based on the converted digital signal.

The disclosed embodiments relate to a method for controlling prefetching in a processor to prevent over-saturation of interfaces in the memory hierarchy of the processor. While the processor is executing, the method determines a bandwidth utilization of an interface from a cache in the processor to a lower level of the memory hierarchy. Next, the method selectively adjusts a prefetch-dropping high-water mark for occupancy of a miss buffer associated with the cache based on the determined bandwidth utilization, wherein the miss buffer stores entries for outstanding demand requests and prefetches that missed in the cache and are waiting for corresponding data to be returned from the lower level of the memory hierarchy, and wherein when the occupancy of the miss buffer exceeds the prefetch-dropping high-water mark, subsequent prefetches that cause a cache miss are dropped.

The present invention is a coated hydrogenation catalyst that includes a porous support material, an active metal component and a silica precursor, wherein the support material is impregnated with the active metal component and then contacted with the silica precursor. After impregnation, the support material is calcined to form a SiO2 layer. The active metal component can be one or more Group VIII metals, metal oxides, metal sulfides or metal carbides. The support material for the coated catalyst is kieselguhr, alumina, silica or silica-alumina. In a preferred embodiment, the active metal component is platinum, palladium, rhodium, rhenium or iridium and the catalyst includes a zeolite component. The coated catalyst is prepared by first impregnating the support material with the active metal component and then contacting the silica precursor to form an impregnated catalyst. The impregnated catalyst is then calcined to form the coated catalyst having a SiO2 layer. The impregnation with the active metal component and the incorporation of the silica precursor can be repeated two or more times to form a plurality of SiO2 layers on the coated catalyst.

According to the method for producing the clean diesel fuel through the high-sulfur-nitrogen poor-quality diesel fuel, conditions are moderate, operating is easy, cost is low, and the clean diesel fuel with the sulfur content, the nitrogen content and the arene content meeting the Euro V standard and the cetane number improved by 10 units or over can be produced.

Carbon nanotube anchor for mass spectrometer

This invention enables a sensitivity enhancement in the detection of molecular compounds. A mass spectrometry analyte support with nanotube anchors are used to concentrate MALDI samples prepared with water-insoluble matrix compounds on the anchor spot.
