Method and apparatus for using multicarrier interferometry to enhance optical fiber communications

A redundently modulated multicarrier protocol known as Carrier Interference Multiple Access (CIMA) is used in an optical-fiber network having wireless links at network nodes. CIMA is a protocol that can be used to create wireless protocols (such as TDMA and CDMA) having enhanced capacity and reduced system complexity. A CIMA optical-fiber network uses dispersion to enhance signal quality and facilitate switching. CIMA achieves both diversity benefits and capacity enhancements by providing redundancy in at least one diversity parameter while providing orthogonality in another diversity parameter. This basic operating principle of CIMA may be combined with multi-user detection to achieve frequency reuse and improved power efficiency. In the wireless link, diversity may be used to reduce the effects of small-scale fading on interferometry multiplexing.

Active noise cancellation helmet, motor vehicle system including the active noise cancellation helmet, and method of canceling noise in helmet

An active noise cancellation helmet includes a detection unit which detects noise in a helmet body, and a sound outputting unit which outputs a sound for canceling the noise detected by the detection unit. A control signal is generated by processing an output signal of the detection unit through computation. The control signal is amplified by an amplification unit, and applied to the sound outputting unit. A ratio of sound pressures in different frequency ranges is determined on the basis of the output signal of the detection unit. A gain of the amplification unit is adjusted on the basis of the sound pressure ratio so as to approximate a spectrum of the output signal of the detection unit to a predetermined target spectrum.

Automotive wiper assembly

A vehicle wiper blade and wiper blade assembly having a longitudinal stiffener mounted on the blade body at an offset angle from the central geometric plane of the blade edge, defined by the neck and wiping edge of the blade. When mounted in the presence of a wind stream flowing over the vehicular windshield, the protruding face surfaces of the stiffener function as an air dam to reduce lift-off effects, or as an airfoil to provide a supplemental pressure directing the wiper blade against the windshield. The proximity of the lower, forward edge of the blade to the windshield serves as an air dam. The upper trailing edge of the blade may be extended to serve as an airfoil. Rotating electric-field sensor

A compact instrument package consisting of a rotating sensor and supporting signal-processing electronics is capable of measuring two-dimensional electric-field vectors, ranging from DC to an arbitrary upper AC frequency not limited by the rotation rate, with highly improved accuracy and sensitivity when compared with previous art. In addition, contrary to previous art, the sensor can measure the electric field gradient at its location. This is achieved by the use of a combination of quadrature modulation and phase-sensitive quadrature demodulation digital signal processing in a generic rotating electric-field sensor. Ground isolated versions of the instrument can be used singly or in arrays when precise measurements of the electric fields are necessary. Either grounded or isolated versions of the instrument can operate continuously without the need for internal batteries, making it extremely attractive for a wide-range of industrial and space applications. Operational modes have been developed to distinguish the effects of ion currents and charged particles impacting the sensor from the local ambient electric field. Moreover, particular versions of the instrument can be operated in corrosive environments and conducting fluids.

Nmos ldo psrr improvement using power supply noise cancellation

Power-supply ripple rejection (PSRR) at high frequencies is improved for an LDO voltage regulator with an NMOS pass transistor (MN1). A ripple voltage (Vripple) present on the input voltage causes a ripple current (Iripple) through parasitic gate-drain capacitance of the pass transistor. A small ripple current (Ifraction) proportional to the ripple current (Iripple) is generated and amplified to generate a cancellation current (Icancel). The cancellation current is drawn from the gate of NMOS pass transistor (MN1) to cancel the ripple current so that no net ripple current flows through the finite output impedance of an error amplifier (2), to thereby achieve the PSRR improvement.
