In one set of embodiments the invention comprises a highly accurate, low-power, compact size DAC utilizing charge redistribution techniques. Two complementary conversions may be performed and added together to form a final DAC output voltage by performing charge redistribution a first time, and again a second time in a complementary fashion, followed by a summing of the two charge distributions, in effect canceling the odd order capacitor mismatch errors. By canceling all odd order mismatch errors the accuracy of the DAC may become a function of the square of the mismatch of the two capacitors, resulting in greatly increased accuracy. When performing the complementary conversions for multiple bits, the sequence in which each of the two capacitors is charged may be determined to minimize the even-order errors, especially second-order errors. The DEM technique may be applied, in conjunction with the complementary conversions, with less oversampling than required by current DEM implementations, resulting in even-order errors being substantially reduced in addition to all odd-order errors being eliminated.

The present invention relates to an electro-acoustic transducer suitable for applications within mobile communication equipment and hearing aids. The transducer comprises two diaphragms positioned on opposite sides of a magnetic circuit having two magnetic gaps. When used as a microphone the transducer is substantially insensitive to vibrations, and when used as a speaker the transducer generates only very low vibration levels. The magnetic circuit has a number of advantages compared to conventional transducers with circular magnetic. The transducer can be made lightweight and with very compact dimensions compared to conventional designs. In a preferred embodiment the diaphragms are rectangular. The transducer may additionally be used as a vibration generator for silent alarm signals.

A force sensor for measuring forces comprises a sensor plate where at least one measuring resistor is arranged whereby deformations of the sensor plate can be detected as a result of forces to be measured. The sensor plate includes at least one local weakened area whereby deformation behavior of the sensor plate is influenced. The weakened area results in bypassing the flux of force in the sensor plate and in concentrating the forces at non-weakened portions of the sensor plate. The at least one measuring resistor is preferably arranged at such non-weakened deforming portion of the sensor plate. The at least one weakened area defines sensor plate portions separated from at least in sections, the sensor plate portions being exposed to opposite forces. The sensor plate can be mounted in a housing with an evaluation circuit, for example, and constitute a force sensor having compact dimensions and high measuring sensitivity.

This invention describes a compact linear moving coil actuator that incorporates a piston bobbin coil assembly that provides a shaft with linear reciprocal movement. Optionally, a rotary motor can be coupled to the shaft to provide rotary reciprocal movement. The piston and bobbin sections of the piston bobbin coil assembly may be integrally formed as a single unitary piece and easily changed in size and / or configuration during manufacture to enable easier and more cost-effective assembly of various actuator sizes and configurations. A torque limiting device capable of transferring torque within a power train, and also capable of disengaging the torque transfer connection when the torque level exceeds a specific point. A specific ball bearing joint is formed where a radial boss mates with the inner circumference of a flange. The ball bearing joint consists of an outer radial groove formed on the aforesaid inner circumference, an inner radial groove formed on the boss and facing the outer groove, and ball bearings inserted between the two radial grooves. Each radial groove is formed to a V-shape cross section having a radius of curvature smaller than that of the ball bearings, thus providing ball bearing support at two points within each groove, and four points of bearing support in total. Rotation of the torque output part is thus supported adequately in both the radial and axial thrust directions by a single ball bearing structure which allows the torque limiter to be made to compact dimensions.

The present invention relates to earphone arrangements configured to accommodate an acoustically-resistant couple within the compact dimensions of ear-bud type earphones, and aims to incorporate a front volume to rear volume acoustic couple into an earphone without requiring significant addition to the lateral dimensions of the earphone. The earphone has an elongate sound outlet port that locates into a listener's ear canal and bears an internal support surface which is apertured and communicates with the outlet port. A microspeaker is supported on the support surface and projects sound through the aperture and toward the outlet port. Furthermore, the housing includes a front cavity in front of the microspeaker and in communication with the outlet port, and a rear cavity behind the microspeaker. Integrated Micromachined Wind and Gas Velocity Profiler

A wind or gas velocity profiler integrated with micromachined (a.k.a. MEMS, Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) silicon sensors in an open or enclosed space is disclosed in the present invention. There are three main embodiments disclosed in the present invention. Through the preambles of the independent claims, the advantages and merits of such measurement apparatus with MEMS flow sensor will be demonstrated as well. A silicon-based MEMS flow sensor can greatly reduce the sensor fabrication cost by a batch production. Plasma containment method

A method for plasma containment is disclosed comprising varying the system energy subject to Maxwell's equations, momentum moment equations, and adiabatic equations of state, without imposing a quasi-neutrality condition. In one embodiment, electrons are confined by magnetic forces and ions by internal, electrostatic forces that arise due to charge separation of the two fluids. In one embodiment, input parameters for the energy variation process are selected so as to satisfy a plasma beta parameter condition, thereby reducing the number of control variables by one. The radial scale length for cylindrically symmetric plasmas in one-dimensional equilibrium is characterized by the electron skin depth. Such plasmas can be confined as a high aspect ratio toroid having compact dimensions. Applications of the invention include neutron generation, x-ray generation, and power generation.

The present invention discloses a miniature antenna that has a simple structure, compact dimension and high efficiency.
