Train formation control system and train formation control method

This invention provides a train formation control system and method that enable network connection between train formations and network separation within train formations without waiting for the physical coupling / uncoupling of electrical couplers, and that perform processing related to the coupling and splitting of train formations. [Solution] In the train formation control system, train formation 1A and train formation 1B are each equipped with a control device and a millimeter-wave transmission device. When train formation 1A and train formation 1B are separate formations, each control device, upon receiving the coupling signal, causes each millimeter-wave transmission device to search for each other to establish a transmission path. Once the transmission path is established, it performs the coupling process between train formation 1A and train formation 1B. When train formation 1A and train formation 1B are a single formation, upon receiving the coupling signal, it performs the separation process between train formation 1A and train formation 1B.
