The controller is configure to process data representative of the temperature of water within the tank near the top of the water storage tank, and rate of water flowing out of the water storage tank, in order to automatically selectively energize the heat sources. The selection of heat sources by the controller is determined by a mode of operation selected by the user and the data processed by the controller in view of the selected mode of operation.

The invention solves the problems of frosting and low efficiency of the air-source heat pump water heater due to low temperature in winter in the North while recovering the residual heat of the flue gas of the gas boiler at the same time; meanwhile, the emission of the harmful gas in the flue gas of the gas boiler can be reduced, thereby realizing energy saving and emission reduction.

The invention relates to an energy-saving control method for a self-adaptation frequency-conversion heat pump hot water heating system. The energy-saving control method is characterized by comprising the steps that a basic functional expression among a heat pump water supply calculating temperature, an indoor set temperature and an outdoor environment temperature is established, and the temperature difference between the heat pump water supply calculating temperature and an actual water return temperature is judged so that the heat pump water supply calculating temperature can be corrected; the heat pump water supply calculating temperature is corrected again on the basis of a first corrected functional expression according to the deviation between a stabilized actual room air temperature and a set indoor temperature; and the rotating speed of a compressor of a frequency-conversion heat pump water heater is adjusted according to the difference value between an actual water supply temperature and the heat pump water supply calculating temperature obtained through a second corrected functional expression, and therefore an actual water supply calculating temperature and the heat pump water supply calculating temperature tend to be consistent. The energy-saving control method has the beneficial effects that the heat preservation characteristics of different buildings and the differences of laying of hot water coils are taken into full consideration, the water supply calculating temperature is more accurate, and the energy-saving effect is also more obvious.

A heat activated (preferably natural gas, propane, solar or waste heat fired) absorption heat pump water heater and heat exchange system. The heat driven absorption heat pump system extracts low grade heat from the ambient air and produces high grade heat suitable for heating water for domestic, climate control or process purposes in a storage tank. Flue gases exiting the absorption heat pump system are further cooled by the heated water to enable high (condensing) combustion efficiencies. The heat activated heat pump water heating system achieves efficiencies of 150% or greater.
