The invention discloses a breeding method for accelerating
moulting of pavo cristatus. The breeding method comprises the following steps that (1), seven-month-old healthy male peacocks which are ready to moult are selected, then the peacocks which are ready to moult are driven in an illumination room, consecutive illumination is conducted for 24 hours, feed is reduced by 50% in the two days before the
moulting, and water is stopped; (2), during the period from the third day to the seventh day, feeding is stopped for 5 days, illumination is conducted for 8 hours every day, water is fed once inthe
morning and
evening from the third day, and the peacocks are fed in a house during the period without activity; (3), from the seventh day to the fourteenth day, 40 grams of feed is fed to each peacock every day, 10 grams of feed is increased for each peacock every day until
free feeding is recovered, illumination is conducted for 10 hours every day, water is supplied, and an 3%
zinc additiveand 2% shell
powder are added to peacock feed during the seven days. According to the breeding method, water, feed and illumination are appropriately controlled, the feed containing special ingredients is fed, and
living environment conditions are suddenly changed, so that the purpose of neat
moulting is achieved, the number of days of natural moulting is effectively shortened, and high-quality and high-price feathers can be obtained.
