A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for allowing network operators to download ringing tone pattern(s) associated with one or more musical scores to mobile stations (MSs) according to the music selection of mobile subscribers associated with the MSs. Once executed, the ringing tone pattern provides a musical ringing tone on the MS, instead of the normal ringing tone. In addition, ringing tone patterns can be used to enhance the "distinctive ringing" function within the MS. Thus, instead of using distinctive ringing patterns to represent different called party numbers, different music can be used.

Energy efficient TMP refining of destructured chips

A system and method for thermomechanical refining of wood chips comprises preparing the chips for refining by exposing the chips to an environment of steam to soften the chips, compressively destructuring and dewatering the softened chips to a solids consistency above 55 percent, and diluting the destructured and dewatered chips to a consistency in the range of about 30 to 55 percent. The destructuring partially defibrates the material. This diluted material is fed to a rotating disc primary refiner wherein each of the opposed discs has an inner ring pattern of bars and grooves and an outer ring pattern of bars and grooves. The destructured and partially defibrated chips are substantially completely defibrated in the inner ring and the resulting fibers are fibrillated in the outer ring. The compressive destructuring, dewatering, and dilution can all be implemented in one integrated piece of equipment immediately upstream of the primary refiner, and the fiberizing and fibrillating are both achieved between only one set of relatively rotating discs in the primary refiner.

A brushless disk DC motor that exhibits high power density and light weight and is capable of power regeneration and reverse operation employs a flat circular non-ferrous stator plate having a plurality of electromagnets mounted in a ring pattern on an inner face thereof. Permanent magnets are mounted in equal numbers in inner and outer ring patterns on the outer and inner cylindrical surfaces, respectively, of a pair of steel rotors of different diameter that rotate in concert. The stator plate and the pair of rotors are axially aligned such that the inner and outer rings of permanent magnets rotate adjacent to and inside and outside, respectively, the ring of electromagnets. The electromagnets utilize tape-wound amorphous metal cores to minimize eddy currents and resultant iron losses and to permit the use of heavier gauge copper windings to minimize resistive power losses. A greater number of poles in the form of permanent magnets can be accommodated, the number being limited only by the diameter of the rotor, thus providing increased power and torque over prior art brushless DC motors having a limited number of poles. The present motor exhibits up to 200% more starting torque, thus eliminating the need for a gear box or clutch in electric vehicle applications.

The stent with an intermittent coating of the present invention provides a coating having a plurality of discrete coating sections disposed on a stent, i.e., an intermittent coating. The individual coating sections can contain different drugs or therapeutic agents, can be made of different polymers, can be made with different solvents, or combinations thereof. The coating sections can be applied in patterns such as ring patterns, striped patterns, spotted patterns, or dot matrix patterns. In one embodiment, the regions can be large relative to the stent, such as a ring pattern including one therapeutic agent in the radial regions at the ends of a stent and a different therapeutic agent in the radial region in the middle. In another embodiment, the regions can be small relative to the stent, such as a dot matrix pattern with each grid region being a small point.

Apparatus and Method of Reinforcing a Conduit or Vessel

A web for reinforcing the wall of a vessel or conduit, and methods of installation therein, is disclosed. The vessel or conduit is any structure that has a concave or arched inner surface. The web is comprised of an elongated composite laminate that has a fabric layer with a plurality of fibers embedded into a cured resin matrix. When cured on a curing surface, the composite laminate retains an elastic memory of the curing surface such that the composite laminate is substantially self-supporting against the inside surface of the wall due to its elastic memory. In use, a tack coat of epoxy with viscosities ranging from low to high, or gel epoxy, is applied to at least a portion of the bottom side of the laminate, which is then applied to the inside surface of the wall so as to reinforce the wall. Multiple such composites may be applied to the wall in turn in a ring pattern or in a spiral pattern, overlapping at least one recently applied composite to form a water-tight seal within the conduit and to reinforce the conduit.
