The present invention includes an apparatus for combining a water barrier fluid to a bundle of optical fibers including an entrance die having an orifice which is dimensioned to allow for a bundle of optical fibers to be drawn therethrough. Also, an exit die having an orifice is provided. The entrance die and the exit die, respectively, have inner sides which define a cavity. The cavity is in fluid communication with the orifice of the entrance die and the orifice of the exit die, such that a gap is formed at a meeting point between the cavity and the respective orifices of the entrance and the exit die. The gap is radially surrounded by an extension of the cavity to define a critical flow region. A plurality of baffles are formed in the exit die which are operative to inject fluid into the cavity. Also provided is a main body which supports the entrance die and the exit die. The main body includes a passageway that is in fluid communication with the plurality of baffles. A retaining ring is included which secures the entrance die and the exit die to the main body.

A method and apparatus for depositing a material layer onto a substrate is described. The method includes delivering a mixture of precursors for the material layer into a process chamber and depositing the material layer on the substrate at low temperature. The material layer can be used as an encapsulating layer for various display applications which require low temperature deposition process due to thermal instability of underlying materials used. In one aspect, the encapsulating layer includes one or more material layers (multilayer) having one or more barrier layer materials and one or more low-dielectric constant materials. The encapsulating layer thus deposited provides reduced surface roughness, improved water-barrier performance, reduce thermal stress, good step coverage, and can be applied to many substrate types and many substrate sizes. Accordingly, the encapsulating layer thus deposited provides good device lifetime for various display devices, such as OLED devices. In another aspect, a method of depositing an amorphous carbon material on a substrate at low temperature is provided. The amorphous carbon material can be used to reduce thermal stress and prevent the deposited thin film from peeling off the substrate.

A barrier, such as a PV module, is secured to a base by a support to create a shingle assembly with a venting region defined between the barrier and base for temperature regulation. The pressure box and condensate tanks form water barriers effectively isolating the cooking chamber from the vent and drain during cooking until venting is required.

Disclosed is a solar cell back panel, comprising a substrate material and a weather-resistant layer. The weather-resistant layer is at least arranged at one side of the substrate material, and a barrier film is arranged at one side of the substrate material. The weather-resistant layer contains the following ingredients (based on weight portion) 25-45 portions of fluorine resin, 1.5-3 portions of modified resin, 0.5-3 portions of polymer fillers, 0.1-1 portion of inorganic filler and 50-70 portions of solvent. The invention provides a water blocking tape for use in a variety of cable designs, such as power cable, data communications cable and telecommunications cable. A water blocking tape according to the invention includes layers of lightweight nonwoven fabric with one or more swellable water blocking compounds, such as water absorbent polymers, disposed between the layers. The nonwoven fabric layers are bonded in a pattern using an ultrasonic bonding technique. The bonding pattern helps to contain and to restrain movement of the water blocking compounds between the layers. The bonding pattern compartmentalizes the water blocking compounds to prevent pooling of the compounds and to facilitate a substantially consistent distribution of the compounds between the layers such that when a tape contacts water, the tape achieves a substantially consistent swell height. A substantially consistent swell height permits a tape to serve as a reliable water barrier to prevent damage and degradation of a cable and its components. Ultrasonic bonding of the multilayer tape eliminates the need and use of adhesives and bonding agents to form the tape that can have inhibiting effects on a swelling action of the tape.

A thin-profile organic EL device with a high degree of reliability is provided. The anode, the organic layer and the light transmissible-type cathode are laminated on the substrate and the inorganic water-barrier layer are laminated thereon, and then a UV rays-curable type water-capturing agent comprising a UV rays-curing agent and a water-absorbing agent is cured to bond to the sealing substrate instead of an adhesive layer. The UV rays-curing agent comprises an acrylic monomer, initiator and accelerator. The UV rays-curable type sealing agent is placed to the outer peripheral portion of the UV rays-curable type water-capturing agent to be cured. The emission of the organic layer is transmitted upward via the cathode, UV rays-curable type water-capturing agent and the sealing substrate. The UV rays-curable type water-capturing agent can be formed in a desired thickness and pattern by applying it and irradiating with UV-rays, thereby making it possible to produce a low-profile organic EL device in large quantities with a high degree of reliability and without damaging the organic layer which is not resistant to water.

The present invention is directed to skin treatment formulations having salicylic acid and other secondary ingredients. The secondary ingredients may include: non-comedogenic essential oils and plant extracts and sebum reducing agents. Salicylic acid and the secondary ingredients are provided in amounts effective to provide a sufficiently aggressive skin treatment for unclogging pores and reducing inflammation, while maintaining levels of sebum on the exterior of the skin to form an operative water barrier on the skin and hair. The present invention comprises an apparatus that is designed to hold back flood waters via a series of interconnected long flexible tubular units. Each unit is connected to each other via a sleeve and has a weighted flap portion for additional anchoring.
