Electronic image sensor

An electronic imaging sensor. The sensor includes an array of photo-sensing pixel elements for producing image frames. Each pixel element defines a photo-sensing region and includes a charge collecting element for collecting electrical charges produced in the photo-sensing region, and a charge storage element for the storage of the collected charges. The sensor also includes charge sensing elements for sensing the collected charges, and charge-to-signal conversion elements. The sensor also includes timing elements for controlling the pixel circuits to produce image frames at a predetermined normal frame rate based on a master clock signal (such as 12 MHz or 10 MHz). This predetermined normal frame rate which may be a video rate (such as about 30 frames per second or 25 frames per second) establishes a normal maximum per frame exposure time. The sensor includes circuits (based on prior art techniques) for adjusting the per frame exposure time (normally based on ambient light levels) and novel frame rate adjusting features for reducing the frame rate below the predetermined normal frame rate, without changing the master clock signal, to permit per frame exposure times above the normal maximum exposure time. This permits good exposures even in very low light levels. (There is an obvious compromise of lowering of the frame rate in conditions of very low light levels, but in most cases this is preferable to inadequate exposure.) These adjustments can be automatic or manual.

Osteogenic fusion device

An interbody osteogenic fusion device is provided that includes opposite end pieces with an integral central element. The end pieces are sized to maintain the height of an intervertebral disc space. The central element has a much smaller diameter so that the osteogenic fusion device forms an annular pocke around the central element. An osteogenic material is disposed within the annular pocket between the opposite end pieces. In one embodiment, the osteogenic material constitutes a collagen sheet soaked in asolution containing a bone morphogenetic protein. The osteogenic fusion device is configured so that the osteogenic material is in direct contact with the adjacent vertebral bone. In addition to the enhanced area of contact between the vertebral bone and the fusion material, the inventive osteogenic fusion device reduces stress-shielding and minimizes the radiopacity of the implant so that growth of the fusion mass can be continuously assessed. In yet another embodiment, the osteogenic fusion device includes at least one end piece with a truncated surface. The osteogenic fusion devices of the present invention may be combined with other fusion devices to form an implant system. The implant system includes at least one load bearing member having a truncated surface configured to nest within another load bearing member, preferably the load bearing, osteogenic fusion device of the present invention. The invention also provides implant systems comprising adjacent load bearing members connected to one another to resist lateral separation. Methods of promoting fusion bone growth in the space between adjacent vertebrae utilizing devices and systems of the invention are also described.

Flexible multi-joint GaAs solar battery and manufacturing method thereof

The invention discloses a flexible multi-joint GaAs solar battery and a manufacturing method of the flexible multi-joint GaAs solar battery, and belongs to the technical field of semiconductor materials. Firstly, a flexible substrate and a battery epitaxial structure which is bonded with metal in the same way and composed of a base battery, a middle battery and a top battery are respectively prepared, and a first battery substrate is manufactured at the outer side of the top battery; secondly, a Ti layer, a Pt layer and an Au layer are sequentially plated on the back of the base battery of the battery epitaxial structure in an vacuum evaporation mode, and the battery epitaxial structure is bonded with a metal layer fully covering the outer surface of a polyimide coating; thirdly, Si3N4 deposits on the surface of the bonded metal layer, and then the first battery substrate on the battery epitaxial structure is removed through alkaline corrosion liquid; fourthly, two upper electrodes and an antireflection film are manufactured on the top battery of the battery epitaxial structure; finally, after a manufactured chip and a Si wafer are bonded on a second substrate through photoresist, and then the second substrate is removed through alkaline corrosion liquid. The manufactured flexible multi-joint GaAs solar battery is wholly flexible, can be applied to surfaces of different shapes, and is not broken easily.
