Dynamic graphical user interface and query logic SQL generator used for developing Web-based database applications

A method and system for dynamically generating database queries is disclosed. The method and system include storing web interface data, including query attributes for a database, in one more tables. The attributes are then retrieved from the tables and displayed in a graphical user interface web page for user selection. Based on the attributes selected by the user, a SQL query is dynamically generated. The method and system further include displaying results of the SQL query to the user in graphical format, thereby enabling dynamic generation of custom queries.

Online payer authentication service

A payment authentication service authenticates the identity of a payer during online transactions. The authentication service of the present invention allows a card issuer to verify a cardholder's identity using a variety of authentication methods, such as the use of passwords. Also, the only system participant requiring a certificate is the issuing financial institution. One embodiment of the invention for authenticating the identity of a cardholder during an online transaction involves querying an access control server to determine if a cardholder is enrolled in the payment authentication service, requests a password from the cardholder, verifies the password, and notifies a merchant whether the cardholder's authenticity has been verified. In another aspect of the invention, a chip card and the authentication service independently generate cryptograms that must match in order for the service to verify that the correct chip card is being used by the cardholder.

Small-scale, concentrating, solar chp system

A high-efficiency, small-scale, combined heat and power, concentrating solar energy system (200), designed specifically for residential and other relatively low-power applications, rendering it cost-effective and economically viable. Two-axis tracking of a dish-like reflector (10) of between 1 and 2 meters in aperture ensures very high concentrating ratios of between 200 and 8-suns or even higher. In consequence very high coolant outlet temperatures, of 120-180° C. may be reached at the outlet of the collector coolant, which may be oil, gas, or pressurized water. The high coolant temperatures are advantageous because they may be used for air-conditioning. The high concentration is advantageous because the efficiency of the photo_voltaic cells is improved with higher concentration. The overall efficiency is greater than 60%. Additionally, a simple but accurate drive, designed as a radio-dial drive (14), with substantially zero backlash, and substantially zero drive, is provided for driving the concentrating solar energy system. Preferably, two radio-dial drives are employed and tracking is performed along two axes, of an azimuth-elevation mount, a polar mount, or a cross mount.

Programmable light source for edge-lit displays

A light source comprised of a transparent body and a printed circuit board is mounted to a transparent display panel. The transparent body is comprised of a series of light-collimating lenses. The printed circuit board comprises a series of LEDs which are arranged such that the emitted light enters the collimating lenses and then enters the transparent display panel. The substantially collimated light reflects within the display panel until it contacts a diffuse surface portion, causing the light to exit the display panel. The on / off state and intensity of the LEDs are controlled by a programmable device. The transparent body and transparent display panel are sufficiently flat to facilitate a layered arrangement of assemblies.

Systems and methods for offering and servicing hedge funds

A family of hedge funds, serving as “feeder funds” into underlying single-manager hedge funds, formed to provide smaller investors with the ability to allocate and reallocate assets among alternative strategies, and this basic structure combining interrelated systems and methods for offering, redeeming, exchanging, valuing, reporting and servicing the same is a new approach. The system and methods described herein provide investors having less than ultra-high net worth portfolios with access to hedge funds and the potential valuable diversification to an overall portfolio, and the ability to customize their portfolio of hedge funds to their individual needs and adjust such portfolio over time as seen fit in light of changing financial needs and market conditions. This invention gives a wide range of investors access to hedge funds, creating economic value using a new source of stable investor capital for hedge fund managers, a value shared with investors through reduced costs.

Targeted-assisted iterative screening (tais):a novel screening format for large molecular repertoires

This invention provides a new in vitro screening method for the detection of protein-protein and other interactions. The method has been developed and applied to a commercial cDNA library to search for novel protein-protein interactions. PDZ, WW and SH3 domains from PSD95, Nedd4, Src, Abl and Crk proteins were used as test targets. 12 novel putative and 2 previously reported interactions were identified for 6 protein interaction modules in test screens. The novel screening format, dubbed TAIS (target-assisted iterative screening), provides an alternative platform to existing technologies for a pair-wise characterization of protein-protein, and other, interactions.
