Shoulder prosthesis assembly

The invention concerns a shoulder prosthesis assembly comprising a meta-glenoid element (7) formed by a plate (13) provided with a central tubular block (14) an anchoring members in the glenoid cavity (3), and a glenoid sphere (9) designed to top the metaglenoid element and provided with an axial screw (35) screwed into said pin; the glenoid sphere has an articulated surface (11) designed to co-operate with a cup of an associated humeral prosthesis (2); said assembly comprises means (16, 45, 46; 51, 50, 49) guiding the glenoid sphere adapted to facilitate its being fixed on the meta-glenoid element; said means comprise a pin (46) adapted to be slotted into the tubular block (14) and into an axial passage of the screw (35); the glenoid sphere (9) is thus guided by being slid on the pin (46) until the screw (35) is inserted precisely into the axis of the tubular block (14), wherein it can be screwed without any risk of damaging the thread on the screw and the internal thread of the block. Advantageously, the free end (48) of the screw (35) can likewise be bevelled to facilitate its being inserted in the block (14) without damaging the threads. The inventive arrangement is particular useful considering the difficulties encountered by the surgeon for correctly positioning the glenoid sphere (9) relative to the meta-glenoid element (7) owing to lack of visibility.

Toothbrush for massaging and protecting gums

This invention relates to a toothbrush that utilizes a replaceable brush head having rubber gum guard on its top surface and a triangular shaped rubber pad on its bottom surface. The rubber gum guard is shorter than the height of the bristles and is positioned on the peripheral edge of a brush head for functioning as a sensor for providing feedback to prevent brushing at excessive pressures and improper angles as well as for massaging the gumlines without the risk of gum damages. The triangular shaped rubber pad is for conforming to and massaging gumlines at the back of teeth. The replaceable brush head having the rubber gum guard and massaging pad features is economically used in conjunction with a permanent handle that dispenses dentifrice material to the top of bristles. The handle has a resilient contractible connector for secure mounting of the replaceable brush head.

Method of endovenous laser treatment

InactiveUS6986766B2Without risk of damageQuick insertElectrotherapyDiagnosticsMedicineEndovenous laser treatment
A method of endovenous laser treatment in disclosed. An introducer sheath 40 is introduced into a vein and an optical fiber 12 is introduced through the introducer sheath until a first marking 45 on the optical fiber 12 indicates that the distal end of the optical fiber 12 is substantially in alignment with the distal end of the introducer sheath 40. The introducer sheath 40 is then withdrawn relative to the optical fiber 12 until a second marking 46 on the optical fiber 12 indicates that the distal end of the optical fiber 12 extends a predetermined distance beyond the distal end of said introducer sheath 40. Laser radiation is passed down the optical fiber 12 so that laser radiation is delivered to the inner wall of the vein and the introducer sheath 40 together with the optical fiber 12 are withdrawn a certain distance along the vein.

Method and apparatus for laser machining relatively narrow and relatively wide structures

The method uses a common optical, system and sequentially creates structures of different sizes in a polymer substrate by means of different laser processes is described. One process uses a laser beam that is tightly focussed on the substrate surface and is used for creating fine groove structures by semi-continuous direct write type beam movement. The second process uses a second laser beam that is used to form a larger size image on the substrate surface and is used to create blind pads and contact holes in the substrate in step and drill mode. A third optional process uses the second laser beam operating in direct writing mode to remove layers of the substrate over larger continuous areas or in a mesh type pattern.
