77 results about "Renal blood flow" patented technology

In the physiology of the kidney, renal blood flow (RBF) is the volume of blood delivered to the kidneys per unit time. In humans, the kidneys together receive roughly 25% of cardiac output, amounting to 1.2 - 1.3 L/min in a 70-kg adult male. It passes about 94% to the cortex. RBF is closely related to renal plasma flow (RPF), which is the volume of blood plasma delivered to the kidneys per unit time.

Transdermal Delivery of Beneficial Substances Effected By a Hostile Biophysical Environment

The present invention generally relates to the transdermal delivery of substances and, in some embodiments, to the transdermal delivery of beneficial substances by a hostile biophysical environment. In one aspect, various methods for the transdermal delivery of beneficial substances are disclosed. By creating a hostile biophysical environment, beneficial substances may be delivered, according to certain embodiments, through the stratum corneum of the skin into the body. Beneficial substances include, but are not limited to, pharmaceutical agents, drugs, vitamins, co-factors, peptides, dietary supplements, and others. The beneficial effects disclosed include, for instance, relief of pain and inflammation, prevention and healing of ulcers of the skin, relief of headache, improved sexual function and enjoyment, growth of hair on the scalp, improving muscle size and/or function, removing body fat and/or cellulite, treating cancer, treating viral infections and others. A hostile biophysical environment may also be used in conjunction with systems and methods for increasing local blood flow, according to one set of embodiments. For example, by using a nitric oxide donor such as L-arginine, local blood flow may be increased, e.g., by transdermally delivering the nitric oxide precursor. The nitric oxide donor may be the sole cause of increased blood flow, or it may be supplemented with an adjunct such as theophylline.

Traditional Chinese medicine composition for treating liver ascites symptoms and preparation method thereof

The invention discloses a new traditional Chinese medicine composition for treating liver ascites symptoms and a preparation method thereof. The traditional Chinese medicine composition is mainly prepared from the following medicine components: cassia twig, tuckahoe, rhizoma alismatis, Plantain seed, fiveleaf akebia, Lobelia, mulberry bark, climbing fern spore, broom cypress fruit, lysimachia, talcum, notopterygium root, ledebouriella root, acanthopanax bark, orientvine, cinnamon, clove, pangolin, dried orange peer, immature bitter orange, nut grass, rhubarb, hemlock parsley, magnolia bark, Chinese yam, white atractylodes rhizome, semen raphani, japanese sweetflag, bush-cherry seed, angelica glabra, Evodia rutaecarpa, galangal, allium macrostemon, Semen Euryales, pyrrosia lingua, ricepaperplant and oriental wormwood. The traditional Chinese medicine composition can be prepared into any commonly-used oral preparation by using the conventional traditional Chinese medicine preparation method. The invention can obviously improve the symptoms of abdominal distention, ascites, difficulty in walking, and probable obvious diaphragm elevation with expiratory dyspnea and exomphalocele before the ocurrence of ascites. Some patients possibly have the symptoms of hydrothorax, increased portal venous pressure, increased hydrostatic pressure abdominal visceral vessel beds, hypoalbuminemia diseases, excessive lymphogenesis, secondary hyperaldosteronism, reduction of renal blood flow, sodium output and urinary output and the like. The traditional Chinese medicine composition has exact and obvious clinical curative effect and high efficiency. By basically combining edible and pharmaceutical products specified in the national pharmacopoeia, the traditional Chinese medicine composition has the advantages of low cost, no toxic or side effects and the like.

Method for noninvasively and quantitatively measuring local blood flows of human organs

The invention relates to a method for noninvasively and quantitatively measuring local blood flows of human organs. The method comprises the following steps of: performing positron emission tomography/fluorodeoxyglucose (PET/H2150) dynamic scanning on a human body, wherein scanned parts are determined according to circumstances; selecting the whole brain or other organs as reference areas as required, or selecting any parts of the brain or other organs as reference areas, and directly applying a formula; determining a relative local blood flow P1 of each part in the brain or other organs, wherein the part is not the same part as a contained area, and the P1 is automatically taken as 1 when the areas are completely overlapped; and performing normalization processing on the whole brain or the whole organs after the value of the relative local blood flow P1 of each part of the selected brain or other organs is solved. By the method, the per-pixels of the analyzed organs can be quantitatively determined, functional images of the local blood flow can be generated and input functions are not needed, so that blood drawing is not needed, and complicated correction is not needed. The method has high accuracy and facilitates practical application.

The invention discloses a method and system for displaying the blood flow variation amplitude of cerebral blood flow. The method comprises the steps of obtaining a first cerebral blood flow value of acurrent time period at the preset time interval when cerebral blood flow measuring equipment is worn on the human body; calculating the blood flow variation amplitude of the current time period according to the first cerebral blood flow value of the current time period and a preset cerebral blood flow reference value; associating the calculated blood flow variation amplitude with the current timeperiod, and displaying the variation of the blood flow variation amplitude. By means of the method and system for displaying the blood flow variation amplitude of the cerebral blood flow, the blood flow variation amplitude of the cerebral blood flow is determined by collecting cerebral blood flow values and comparing the cerebral blood flow values of all the time periods with the preset cerebralblood flow value, the variation of the blood flow variation amplitude is displayed so that a user can clearly and accurately obtain the cerebral blood flow variation of all the time periods, and the accuracy of cerebral blood flow variation data is improved accordingly.
