A mixed virgin / recycled
polyethylene composition having a melt flow rate, MFR2, in the range of from 0.01 to 2.5 g / 10min, determined according to ISO1133:2022, and a density of from 900.0 to 975.0 kg / m³, determined according to ISO 1183-1:2019; the composition comprising 35.0 wt.% or more of a recycled
polyethylene fraction (rPE) relative to the total weight of the mixed / recycled
polyethylene composition; wherein said recycled polyethylene fraction (rPE) has a total amount of
ethylene units (C2 units) of at least 85.0 wt.% as determined by quantitative 13C{1H} NMR
spectroscopy as described herein; a total amount of continuous propylene units (C3 units) in an amount of from 0.0 to 5.0 wt.% as determined by quantitative 13C{1H} NMR
spectroscopy as described herein; at least one of: a content of iron (Fe) of 100 ppm or less, a content of
titanium (Ti) of 700 ppm or less, a content of
zinc (Zn) of 300 ppm or less, a content of
chlorine (Cl) of 600 ppm or less, and / or a content of
sulfur (S) of 120 ppm or less, determined by x-
ray fluorescence (XRF) as described herein; wherein a total content of Fe, Ti, Zn, Cl and S amounts to at least 10 ppm; and wherein said mixed virgin / recycled polyethylene composition further comprises at least one virgin polyethylene component (B), and more than 0.2 wt.% of a
pigment, preferably
carbon black (CB), determined by TGA as described in measurement methods, based on the total amount of the mixed virgin / recycled polyethylene composition. A method for preparing said mixed virgin / recycled polyethylene composition, an article comprising the same and the use thereof for the production of wire and / or cable jacketing.
