The apparatus and method comprises a first separator for circulating the solids and the liquid to concentrate the solids within the liquid. The concentrated solids are discharged into a second separator. The second separator extends upwardly for separating and discharging the concentrated solids from the liquid.

An improved apparatus for latching and unlatching a load from a sling comprises a housing attachable to a load lift line extending from a crane or other similar equipment. Contained at least partially within the housing is a load engaging assembly including a latch, such as a conventional sling hook used to attach a load containing sling. The load engaging assembly further includes a latch attachment assembly and an unlatching trigger assembly. The apparatus further includes a load activated lock operatively attached to the latch attaching assembly to latch and unlatch the load engaging assembly. The load activated lock includes a support structure affixed to the housing, a latch activating member slidably mounted on the support structure and a movable locking structure positioned within the housing and operatively adjacent the latch activating member to engage and prevent latch activating member from sliding movement when a load is applied to the latch. The apparatus further includes a compression switch affixed to the housing at a position to be activated when a load of a predetermined weight is attached to the latch. The method may include calculating a liquid water content (LWC) value as a function of a rate of change of the electrical signal, and iteratively calculating a total water exposure (TWE) value as a function of the LWC value. The TWE value may represent a total water exposure of the aircraft from a time of an initial event, and may be calculated as a running total over a plurality of iterations. And the method may include performing a remedial or alert action in an instance in which the TWE value reaches a TWE threshold.

An apparatus for forming a magnetic transition pattern in a magnetic material by contact printing, comprising:

• • (a) a stamper having an imprinting surface comprising a plurality of projections and depressions arranged according to the magnetic transition pattern, the stamper being formed of at least one high saturation magnetization, high permeability magnetic material;
  • (b) means for supporting a workpiece such that a surface thereof comprised of the magnetic material is in contact with the imprinting surface;
  • (c) magnet means for applying a unidirectional re-alignment magnetic field to the stamper and workpiece to effect selective re-alignment of magnetic domains of portions of the magnetic material facing the depressions of the imprinting surface, such that the pattern of selectively re-aligned magnetic domains forms a pattern replicating the pattern of projections and depressions; and
  • (d) means for applying sufficient pressure to the stamper and workpiece to overcome magnetic attraction between the stamper and the magnet means to thereby maintain full contact therebetween.

An apparatus for forming features in a workpiece is provided. The apparatus includes a nosepiece that engages a boss of a template and guides a tool member therethrough. The nosepiece includes a housing and an adjustable member positioned at least partially in an interior space of the housing. The adjustable member defines radial apertures that hold locking members such as spherical bearings. • • (a) a stamper/imprinter including a body formed of at least one magnetic material having a high saturation magnetization B_sat and a high permeability, including an imprinting surface adapted to be placed in intimate contact with a surface of a magnetic layer, the imprinting surface comprised of a plurality of patterned areas which separate a plurality of areas which are not patterned, each of the areas which is not patterned being provided with at least one of:
    • (i) mechanical reinforcing means for preventing deformation of the body when the imprinting surface is urged into contact with the surface of the magnetic layer; and
    • (ii) gas venting means for facilitating removal of air or other gas from between the imprinting surface and the surface of the magnetic layer when the former is urged into contact with the latter.

A resonant power converter for ultra-efficient radio frequency transmission and associated methods. In one exemplary embodiment, the invention is digitally actuated and uses a combination of a noise-shaped encoder, a charging switch, and a high-Q resonator coupled to an output load, typically an antenna or transmission line. Energy is built up in the electric and magnetic fields of the resonator, which, in turn, delivers power to the load with very little wasted energy in the process. No active power amplifier is required. The apparatus can be used in literally any RF signal application (wireless or otherwise), including for example cellular handsets, local- or wide-area network transmitters, or even radio base-stations.
