System and method for enabling multi-element bidding for influencinga position on a search result list generated by a computer network search engine

InactiveUS20030033292A1Easily predict position of their web siteIncrease exposureFinanceAdvertisementsWeb siteResult list
A system and method for enabling information providers using a computer network such as the Internet to influence a position for a search listing within a search result list generated by an Internet search engine. A database stores accounts for the network information providers. Each account contains contact and billing information for a network information provider. In addition, each account contains at least one search listing having at least three components: a description, a search term comprising one or more keywords, and a bid amount. The network information provider may add, delete, or modify a search listing after authenticated login. A search term relevant to the content of the web site or other information source to be listed is first selected. A search listing includes the search term and a description. A bidding process occurs when the network information provider enters a new bid amount for a search listing. The system and method then compares the bid amount with all other bid amounts for the same search term, and generates a rank value for all search listings having that search term. The rank value determines where the listing will appear on the search results list page that is generated in response to a query of the search term by a searcher.

Safety penetrating method and apparatus into body cavities, organs, or potential spaces

To more accurately control insertion of penetrating instruments (e.g., trocars, needles, or the like) into a body cavity, organ, or potential space, an accelerometer is coupled to the penetrating instrument. The accelerometer may by employed to measure or detect the sudden lack of resistance which occurs when the penetrating instrument penetrates to a predetermined depth (e.g., through the abdominal cavity, vein, or outer bone) in a more accurate and reliable way instead of practitioners' subjective feeling. An acceleration sensor (i.e., accelerometer) coupled to the penetrating instrument (e.g., trocar or the like) may transform the physical variable ‘resistance change’ into an electronic signal that is then processed in an electronic circuit, and finally triggers an audible / visible alarm and / or feeds an actuating mechanism to control movement of the penetrating instrument.

Method and apparatus for detection of a controlled substance

Techniques and devices for detecting and analyzing controlled substances and the like are discussed including highly reactive sensor molecules which are coated on a spectroscopic sample surface (4) and which may chemically react with a given analyte to form a covalently bonded adduct with spectral characteristics unique to the new adduct. The techniques provide the basis of a detection system with high sensitivity and high specificity in which the surface can even be washed to remove interfering or nonreactive compounds. The sensor molecules which comprise the coating (8) may have three major components: a central molecular scaffold ("CMS"), a "tether" terminated by a surface attachment group "SAG," and a reactive functional group "RFG" which may be highly reactive towards certain classes of molecules. One or more modifiers or modifier groups "Z" which may serve to increase or decrease the reactivity of the RFG towards target analytes, or to modify the spectral characteristics of the adduct may also be included. Some sensor molecules include diazonium compounds, activated acyls, and nitrosos.

Burner kettle for asphalt paving apparatus

A burner system for heating the material product, i.e., asphalt, includes a burner kettle designed with a thicker bottom heat transfer plate, added heat transfer oil (HTO) circulation pumps, a spiral circulation ring and heat restriction rings. The spiral circulation ring spirals up the burner kettle to move the HTO around the entire circumference of the burner kettle to eliminate hotspots. An HTO pump moves cooler oil from the top of the kettle directly across the hottest part of the bottom of the kettle, i.e., across the heat transfer plate. Keeping this zone cool will eliminate heat stress of the material. Heat restriction rings direct the heat back and forth throughout the burner kettle for increased efficiency.

Accumulator with pickup tube

A suction accumulator for refrigeration or air-conditioning system use, especially for automotive air conditioning system use, which comprises a “pickup tube” to withdraw liquid from a reservoir of the accumulator to return oil to the compressor. The accumulator has a deflector with an outlet tube, to help ensure that fluid does not flow directly from the inlet opening to the outlet opening of the accumulator. The relatively narrow second portion of the outlet tube is closer to the outlet opening than the first portion. The pickup tube is secured in communication with the relatively narrow second portion and optimises the oil return function, minimises restriction to refrigerant flow, maximises effective and actual reservoir volume, and minimises the amount of liquid delivered to the compressor at switch-off. Incorporating an electric heating element or a heat exchanger for engine coolant or exhaust allows the accumulator of the present invention to function as the evaporator when the refrigeration system is used in heat pump mode for heating applications.

Phase, amplitude and gate-bias optimizer for doherty amplifier

Systems, methods and instrumentalities are disclosed for Doherty amplifier optimization. Amplifier configurability and control therefore may be integrated. Amplitude alignment, phase alignment, amplifier gate biasing, driver gate biasing and temperature compensation for N paths in Doherty configurations may be integrated, for example, using a programmable LUT storing control bit patterns. Configurability may comprise reconfigurability between asymmetric power split ratios, between symmetric and asymmetric relationships and between classic and inverted phase relationships, permitting path reconfigurability for higher or lower power and leading or lagging phase. Multiple versions providing more or less configurability and / or control range with more or less insertion loss, such as design and production versions, may be pin compatible, e.g., to reduce time and expense for R&D and production transition. Integration of configurability and / or control may reduce complexity in design, development, control, optimization, production and application, e.g., by eliminating interfaces, mismatches or excessive capacitance between discrete chips.
