A method and apparatus for measuring at least one polarization-related characteristic of an optical path (FUT) uses an optical source means connected to the FUT at or adjacent a proximal end of the FUT and an analyzing-and-detection unit connected to the FUT at or adjacent its proximal or distal end. The optical source means injects into the FUT at least partially polarized light having a controlled state of polarization (I-SOP). The analyzer-and-detection unit extracts corresponding light from the FUT, analyzes and detects the extracted light corresponding to at least one transmission axis (A-SOP), and processes the corresponding electrical signal to obtain transmitted coherent optical power at each wavelength of light in each of at least two groups of wavelengths, wherein the lowermost (λl) and uppermost (λU) said wavelengths in each said group of wavelengths are closely-spaced. A processing unit than computes at least one difference in a measured power parameter corresponding to each wavelength in a wavelength pair for each of the at least two groups, the measured power parameter being proportional to the power of the said analyzed and subsequently detected light, thereby defining a set of at least two measured power parameter differences; computes the mean-square value of said set of differences; and calculating the at least one polarization-related FUT characteristic as at least one predetermined function of said mean-square value, the predetermined function being dependent upon the small optical frequency difference between the wavelengths corresponding to the said each at least said two pairs of closely-spaced wavelengths.

Method and device for continuous dyeing of warp ends

The invention relates to a method for the continuous dyeing of warp ends, in particular cotton warp ends, with indigo or other dyestuff groups which, after impregnating and squeezing out, require oxidation or thermal treatment for fixing. The method eliminates the disadvantages of traditional methods for the continuous dyeing of warp ends. In particular, the required bath amount is considerably reduced by this method. By using a new dyeing reactor (1), the residence time of the warp ends in the dyeing installation can be varied without having to increase the bath volume. The option of heating or cooling the dyeing bath enables a fixing temperature between below room temperature and over 100° C. to be chosen. Optimal conditions can thus be created for all dyeing methods which are habitual for warp ends. In this way, the number of immersion-oxidation processes in the indigo dyehouse can be reduced and the growing demand for indigo blue jeans material with different wash resistances and shades can thus be catered for with increased flexibility. And the same can be done for black and colored denim.

Rotary bullet feeder and toolhead assemblies for use with commercially available progressive cartridge reloading machines automatically supply correctly-oriented bullets to a bullet seating die position thereof. The rotary bullet feeder assembly randomly collects hoppered bullets in a desired orientation in a multiplicity of bullet pockets formed along the peripheral edge of a rotating bullet feed ring. An arcuate bullet wall prevents gravitational release of the bullets contained in the bullet pockets until each of the bullet pockets, in turn, reaches the apex point along its circular route of travel, at which point an opening in the bullet wall allows a bullet to fall into a bullet guide for gravitational descent to a toolhead assembly. The toolhead assembly includes a toolhead plate for receiving the rotary bullet feeder assembly and a flat circular bullet feedwheel mounted for rotation on the underside of the toolhead plate. The bullet feedwheel includes a plurality of bullet feed holes equidistantly arranged in a circle proximate the peripheral edge of the bullet feedwheel. An indexing mechanism, positioned beneath the bullet feedwheel, serves to incrementally rotate or index the bullet feedwheel in response to each user actuation of the handle of the cartridge reloading machine. Each incremental indexing rotation of the bullet feedwheel serves to sequentially advance each bullet feed hole containing a bullet received from the rotary bullet feeder assembly into alignment with a conventional seating die positioned in the toolhead plate.

A radar transmits electromagnetic energy in pulse repetition intervals and receives reflections from objects in range gates including Doppler filters. When the independent samples exceed the small number of samples, the radar approves the ambiguous echo. Otherwise, it is suppressed. In this way, ambiguous echoes are prevented from interfering with the reception or display of echoes. The suppression of asynchronous interferences can be made easier.
