Check valve, fan unit, and forced air cooling system

A backflow preventing check valve for use in a fan unit in a forced air cooling system includes a generally rectangular frame, a plurality of adjacent parallel pivot axes mounted in the frame, and a plurality of adjacent vanes that pivot around the axes between open and closed positions. The axes extend generally transverse to the direction of fluid flow through the valve, and each axis is offset from the center of gravity of its associated vane so that fluid flowing through the valve in an allowed direction moves the vanes toward the open position, and fluid flowing in a blocked direction moves the vanes toward the closed position. The axes are inclined at an angle (α) measured from a vertical reference, thereby causing the vanes to be urged by gravity to pivot towards the closed position.

Off-pitch column redundancy using dynamic shifters

ActiveUS7134057B1Improvement in memory redundancy designImproved and efficient column redundancy schemeStatic storageOn boardPitch shift
An apparatus and method for controlling and providing off-pitch shifting circuitry for implementing column redundancy in a multiple-array memory is described in connection with an on-board cache memory integrated with a microprocessor. Depending upon the particular sub-array being accessed, shift position data is provided to a shared, off-pitch shift circuit to control the read and / or write operations for the memory. A register bank stores data identifying the defective columns which is compared to the incoming address information to detect any matches. In response to a match, control information is provided to the off-pitch shift circuit for shifting or re-routing the incoming data to a non-defective address in the memory. In this way, defective columns located in different positions in each sub-array can be replaced by redundant paths, thereby repairing the cache and increasing the manufacturing yield of microprocessors with an on-board cache memory.

Non-invasive method and system for characterizing cardiovascular systems for all-cause mortality and sudden cardiac death risk

Methods and systems for evaluating the electrical activity of the heart to identify novel ECG patterns closely linked to the subsequent development of serious heart rhythm disturbances and fatal cardiac events. Two approaches are describe, for example a model-based analysis and space-time analysis, which are used to study the dynamical and geometrical properties of the ECG data. In the first a model is derived using a modified Matching Pursuit (MMP) algorithm. Various metrics and subspaces are extracted to characterize the risk for serious heart rhythm disturbances, sudden cardiac death, other modes of death, and all-cause mortality linked to different electrical abnormalities of the heart. In the second method, space-time domain is divided into a number of regions (e.g., 12 regions), the density of the ECG signal is computed in each region and input to a learning algorithm to associate them with these events.

A method of manufacturing a plurality of secondary containment panels and assembling and installing the panels in a secondary containment system of an above-ground liquid storage tank or other retention facility includes forming a plurality of flexible substrate pieces. A liquid impermeable coating is applied to the upper surface of each piece such that an edge segment of the piece remains uncoated. The coating is applied to the substrate piece in an indoor enclosure. The coated pieces are delivered to the site of the tank and extended across the ground adjacent to the tank. At least a pair of the pieces are juxtaposed relative to one another such that a first one of the pieces overlaps the uncoated segment of the second piece to form a seam. An adhesive substance is then applied to the seam to fasten the first and second pieces together.

Apparatus for securing gasket prior to lid installation

A lid for a container forming an upper rim portion. The lid comprises a central portion and a peripheral skirt portion forming a downwardly disposed channel extending around the periphery of the lid. The channel is adapted to overlie the container upper rim portion and to hold a sealing gasket therein at an upper portion of the channel. The skirt portion forms a plurality of bendable flaps extending within said channel, each of which being movable from a first position wherein each said flap extends across a portion of said channel preventing said gasket from falling out of the channel to a second position wherein each said flap is positioned within a relief pocket formed within said skirt wall. Each flap is urged from said first position to said second position by the rim of the container as it is inserted within said channel and pressed into engagement with said gasket. The flap may be inserted in a clearance fit within said pocket and remains in said pocket once urged therein by said rim portion. Alternately each flap may be pressed into friction fit engagement within said pocket and is fixed within said pocket once pressed therein.

Dead reckoning in a gaming environment

Client position in a multi-client game is determined using dead reckoning. Clients send information to a server over a network. The server distributes this information to other clients. A client uses this information and dead reckoning to determine a character's position. The server may calculate the client's position using dead reckoning and send updates to clients when errors between actual and calculated positions exceed a threshold. Clients may calculate their position according to dead reckoning, and when an error between actual and calculated position exceeds a threshold, send updated information to other clients. This Abstract is provided for the sole purpose of complying with the Abstract requirement rules that allow a reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the disclosure contained herein. Method and system for monitoring entity data for trigger events and performing entity reassessments related thereto

The enterprise database system provides methods, data, and user interfaces for performing reassessments and creating financial and accounting disclosure reports. Data fields for entities are monitored for changes that are evident at the end of reporting periods and may trigger the need to reassess the categorization of the entity. The system receives a request to perform a reassessment based on changes to particular data fields during the reporting period. The system retrieves entities that require reassessment based on the trigger events applicable to the entities. A reassessment is performed for each of the entities having a trigger event and the reassessment is stored in a historical database. Based on the reassessment, the system generates prompts to re-categorize the reassessed entity. Following the reassessment and categorization, the system can generate a disclosure report that presents information about the newly categorized entity.
