System and method for integrated on-demand delivery of operating system and applications

The present invention discloses a system and a method for integrated on-demand delivery of operating system and applications, where operating system images are separate and distinct from application images. Integration of operating system streaming and application streaming services makes streaming delivery possible to a wide range of client devices, including those without any local disk space such as thin-clients and diskless workstations. In addition, by integrating the centralized management of operating system delivery and application delivery, the present invention provides a complete solution to server-centric application management, thereby further reducing the total cost of ownership of network-based computing approach. Implementing the operating management functions at the client machine level of specificity and application management functions at the user level of specificity combined with providing separate and distinct operating system images and application images provides an inherently canonical architecture that allows proper scaling and affords appropriate security management functions. The result is a complete, scalable, robust, and reliable server-centric application and operating system management system with a lower total cost of ownership than existing products.

It is an object to provide a display module which can display a correct gray scale by a field sequential driving method and an electronic device including the display module. One frame period is divided into a plurality of lighting periods, and in each of the plurality of lighting periods, signals are supplied to a pixel a plurality of times, whereby the transmissivity of a liquid crystal element is changed over time. Accordingly, even with the use of a liquid crystal element with low response speed as a display element, a correct gray scale can be expressed. In addition, the transmissivity of the liquid crystal element is set at 0% or a backlight is controlled not to emit light in switching of lighting of a backlight or switching of lighting periods, whereby a more correct gray scale can be expressed.

Display device and driving method thereof

Each pixel of a display device has a current supply circuit, a switch portion, and a light emitting element. The light emitting element, the current supply circuit, and the switch portion are connected in series between a power supply reference line and a power supply line. The switch portion is switched between ON and OFF using a digital video signal. The amount of constant current flowing in the current supply circuit is determined by a control signal inputted from the outside of the pixel. When the switch portion is ON, a constant current determined by the current supply circuit flows in the light emitting element and light is emitted. As a result, a low-cost display device can be provided in which the light emitting element can emit light at a constant luminance even when the current characteristic is changed by degradation or the like, which is fast in writing signals in pixels, which can display in gray scales accurately, and which can be reduced in size with a low cost, as well as a driving method of the display device.

Time domain equalization using frequency domain operations

An equalizer for a multi carrier transmission system, converts a transmitted multi carrier signal into sampled frequency domain signals, and suppresses time domain delay dispersion, on the sampled frequency domain signals. It exploits circulant decomposition of a Toeplitz matrix to enable the computationally heavy evaluation of a matrix multiplied by a vector, to be avoided. Increased precision arises from the frequency domain processing being equivalent to a longer time domain FIR filter than is normally practical. The amount of compensation for different carriers can be adjusted, which can lead to increased precision.

Current source circuit, display device using the same and driving method thereof

In a display device having a light emitting element, an accurate setting operation needs much time, unless a current value of the signal current (video signal) is set to high value. On the contrary, the driving current value for causing a light emitting element to emit light is very small. Therefore, it is difficult to perform an accurate setting operation. However, according to the present invention, the current source circuit includes plural transistors. The plural transistors are connected in parallel when the setting operation is performed on the current source circuit, whereas the plural transistors are connected in series when the light emitting element is caused to emit light. Further, the speed of the setting operation is increased because a light emitting element is capable of emitting light with a constant luminance and a current value to set up a current source circuit is higher than a driving current value when a light emitting element emits light.

Method and apparatus for received communication signal processing

ActiveUS20070047629A1Inaccurate estimationAccurate amplitudeTransmissionTraffic volumeConstellation
A method of processing a received communication signal comprises calculating a traffic-to-pilot scaling factor by relating data correlations determined from despread traffic values obtained from the received communication signal-to-noise correlations determined from despread pilot values obtained from the received communication signal, and generating traffic symbol estimates by combining corresponding ones of the despread traffic values using combining weights calculated from the data correlations. Generating combining weights in this manner provides, among other things, Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) estimations for the received traffic symbols that inherently are properly scaled in amplitude relative to symbol values in a reference modulation constellation. By obtaining proper scaling as part of combining weight generation, the receiver need not make an explicit estimate of symbol power to obtain proper soft value information, and the estimated traffic symbols may be compared directly with the reference constellation.

Method and a system of diagnosing corrosion risk of a pipe or a pipeline in soil

A method of diagnosing corrosion risk of a buried pipe due to DC stray currents and / or AC voltages induced in soil employs a metal probe including a first, exposed part having a first specific resistivity, and a second, sealed reference part having a second specific resistivity. The probe is buried in the soil, and the AC current and voltage between the pipe and the probe are measured, from which the spread resistance is determined. The resistances of the first and second probe parts are determined by respectively passing first and second excitation currents through the first and second probe parts and measuring the voltages across them. The resistance measurements are stored, and the steps are repeated periodically. The corrosion of the first probe part is determined from the measurements according to an algorithm, and the pipe corrosion risk is diagnosed from an empirical combination of the corrosion of the first probe part, the spread resistance, and the AC voltage measured.

Space object dimension acquisition method based on photoelectric observation

ActiveCN104101297AHas passive passive reception characteristicsProbing behavior is not easy to detectUsing optical meansElectricityScattering cross-section
The invention belongs to the field of foundation photoelectric observation and discloses a space object dimension acquisition method based on photoelectric observation. The method includes the steps of obtaining high-precision photometric information of a space object through observation; obtaining photometric calibration parameters through orbital calculation; performing photometric correction on the space object; calculating the dimension of the space object. The space object dimension acquisition method based on photoelectric observation overcomes the lack of observational capability on middle-orbit and high-orbit space objects in a radar method and is a method for acquiring the optical dimension of the middle-orbit and high-orbit space objects with an optical telescope system by obtaining the parameters of the optical scattering cross section indicating the dimension of the space object. Compared with a wireless method, the space object dimension acquisition method based on photoelectric observation can accurately obtain the dimension of the space object due to the fact that an optical band is longer than a radio band and not sensitive to edges and corners. The space object dimension acquisition method based on photoelectric observation can be rapidly popularized and applied to existing foundation photoelectric detection devices in China without hardware modification to form a certain capability of determining the dimension of the space object.

Mechanism to Mitigate Color Breakup Artifacts in Field Sequential Color Display Systems

A mechanism for mitigating undesired color image breakup artifacts arising in display systems that exploit the principle of field sequential color generation. By suitably reducing the time interval during which image information strikes the moving retina, such that the differential position for the respective red, green, and blue components of the image falling upon the moving retina does not exceed the diameter of a retinal cone or rod, the cause of the breakup is negated and the image becomes unitary as expected: the eye sees the image as if all the components arrived at the same time. The truncation of light emission into shorter time frames necessitates a compensatory increase in imaging light intensity, such that the net amount of photonic flux striking the retina, averaged over time, remains unchanged. The mechanism can be applied to systems with discrete red, green, and blue sources as well as to color-wheel-based systems.
