High efficiency radio isotope energy converters using both charge and kinetic energy of emitted particles

An electrical energy generator with improved efficiency has a base on which is mounted an elastically deformable micromechanical element that has a section that is free to be displaced toward the base. An absorber of radioactively emitted particles is formed on the base or the displaceable section of the deformable element and a source is formed on the other of the displaceable section or the base facing the absorber across a small gap. The radioactive source emits charged particles such as electrons, resulting in a buildup of charge on the absorber, drawing the absorber and source together and storing mechanical energy as the deformable element is bent. When the force between the absorber and the source is sufficient to bring the absorber into effective electrical contact with the source, discharge of the charge between the source and absorber allows the deformable element to spring back, releasing the mechanical energy stored in the element. An electrical generator of improved efficiency includes a first energy source comprising a piezoelectric transducer secured to the deformable element to convert the released mechanical energy to electrical energy. A second energy source comprises a betavoltaic cell carried on the deformable element or electron collector cantilever beam to provide a direct current (DC) power output that can be added to the piezo-electric circuit's alternating current (AC) power output, such that there is a continuous power output that can be used to provide power to electronic circuits.

Dual-plasma fusion and fission fuel cells

New [GOD, I], [GOD, II], & [GOD, III] dual-plasma fuel cells provide the electric start systems to start their warm-up processes, automatically. After their warm-up processes done and the operation temperatures reached, the dual-plasma fuel cells will run independently by continuously supplying fuels and moisture into the units. In dual-plasma nuclear [fusion and / or fission] fuel cells' configuration, electrical power will be generated from the nuclear-thermal-plasmas reaction by exothermal heating from combustion & nuclear reactions. With conducting high-electrons' current, the cable, loads, and electrodes are connected among one another between two plasmas' ionizing chambers for civil utility purposes. In the [GOD, II] dual-plasma fusion fuel cell, heavy water [D2O] injection into the atomizing chambers increases the plasmas heating and electrical conductivities. And the un-like charges of the heavy water's [D2O+], & [D2O−] react with plasmas' [2H+& O=] combustion heating which will induce the fusion reaction and release much more nuclear heating power for initiation of the next plasmas-generation cycle much easily. For the [GOD, III] dual-plasma fission fuel cell, fission fuels located in the combustion & nuclear reaction space through robotic movements provide additional nuclear-thermal energy that allows for initiation of the plasmas-generation process for the next cycle. For [GerTh. I] dual-plasma jet thruster, the dual plasmas are ejected to an opening end of a ‘C’ shaped magnet, and linear thrust is generated, according to the right-hand rule as in a jet thruster of propulsion for space traveling.

Methods of pulsed nuclear energy generation using piston-based systems

The invention describes a method of nuclear energy transformation into electric and / or mechanical energy by triggering criticality in a working cylinder by an approach of a piston with a neutron reflector layer to fissile heat elements. Optionally, liquid moderator should fill the heating element to provide for an additional condition of such triggering. The pulse reaction initiates a heat cycle by expanding working fluid, extracting mechanical work and compressing the working fluid using lower amount of energy. The energy released in reaction can drive a column of water as a liquid piston propelling a highly efficient hydraulic turbine and producing a simple economical method of energy conversion. The piston movements can also be converted in laser and electromagnetic pulses. Self-regulation of nuclear reaction by a reflector piston linked to a resilient spring can be used in marine propulsion. In one method, the approach of the reflector piston triggers a reaction that evaporates water in the pressure chamber and produces a reactive thrust in a noozle. A fraction of the steam is diverted to produce steam bubble envelope on the surface of the vessel to minimize drag. Another fraction of the diverted steam drives a pump, pumping sea water into the heating elements. Other practical and novel applications of the method are disclosed.
