A safety shield system for a needle cannula of a pen needle injector or similar device, wherein a safety shield may be retracted from a first position enclosing the needle cannula to a second position exposing the needle cannula for injection. The safety shield system permits retraction of the safety shield during use, but extends the shield enclosing the needle cannula in a locked position following use. The shield system is utilized with a pen needle injector having a double-ended needle cannula mounted in a hub member received on an open end of the pen needle injector. The assembly is disposed of by removing the system and storing the assembly in the cup-shaped top cap enclosing the exposed end of the needle cannula within the cap. The top cap includes internal radial ribs preventing retraction of the shield prior to removing the top cap preventing inadvertently piercing the top cap during assembly. In addition, a bottom cap may be interlocked to the top cap to completely encompass the needle cannula, thereby ensuring safe disposal of the assembly.

Disclosed is a light weight handle assembly adapted to transport a heavy duty container which may contain sensitive electronic components. The handle assembly of the present invention generally comprises a stationary bracket which mounts to a container wall and a movable handle pivotally connected to the bracket. The bracket is formed with an inner portion that is adapted to rotatably engage with a pair of pivoting arms extending from the movable handle so that the light weight handle may easily be assembled and disassembled. The stationary bracket is also formed with two stationary stop members while each of the pivoting arms are formed with a corresponding movable stop member. The stationary stop members and movable stop members each have a substantially planar contact surface which are designed such that when the movable handle is pivoted to the lifting / operative position, the movable stop members are in contact with the stationary stop members with less stress in the materials than in conventional handles. The lower stresses enable a strong handle to be made of plastic material such as polyethylene.

A container for packaging items such as semiconductor wafers has a restraining portion with a changeable dimension at an open end that facilitates using conventional loading techniques while also more securely containing the items to avoid undesirable movement of the items in the container. In one example embodiment, the restraining portion includes a sidewall portion that has a first, nominal inside dimension at one end. A second end of the sidewall portion has a second, greater inside dimension at an open end. Another member of the container cooperates with the sidewall portion to change the inside dimension at the open end from the second, greater dimension to the first, nominal dimension. The nominal dimension is selected to correspond to an exterior dimension of the items to be contained within the package so that the container maintains the items in a secure alignment that eliminates lateral movement of the items once the container is secured.
