Apparatus and method for selectively channeling a fluid

An apparatus for selectively channeling a high temperature fluid without chemically reacting with the fluid. The apparatus includes an inlet and a membrane positioned adjacent to the inlet, each composed of a chemically inert material. The membrane is formed by compressive preloading techniques. The apparatus further includes a seat disposed on the inlet adjacent to the membrane. The seat is composed of a heat resistant and chemically inert material. Operation of the apparatus requires that the temperature of the fluid remains below the chemical characteristic melting point of the seat. The apparatus further includes an actuator coupled to the membrane for rendering the membrane in an open and a closed position with respect to the seat. Specifically, the actuator supplies a load in the normal direction to the membrane to selectively engage the membrane in a plurality of predetermined configurations. Operatively, the apparatus receives the fluid at the inlet. The fluid is received at a high temperature and is directed from the inlet to the membrane. In the closed position, the actuator engages the membrane to prevent the fluid from flowing from the inlet between the membrane and the seat. Alternatively, in the open position, the actuator engages the membrane to permit fluid flow from the inlet between the membrane and the seat to at least one outlet provided by the apparatus. In one exemplary embodiment, the fluid may be discharged from the at least one outlet to a sensor in fluid communication with the at least one outlet. Accordingly, the sensor may measure the fluid channeled through the heat resistant and chemically inert environment provided by the apparatus.

The invention provides a comprehensively utilized 'three closed loop' mixed tremor suppression strategy based on the biological force loading technology and the functional neuromuscular stimulation technology. When the tremor patients carry out daily activities such as writing, raising arms and the like, the tremor movement detection system senses the movement information of the arms and isolates tremor movement signals from normal movement signals through the 'two-stage' adaptive prediction filtering algorithm; the 'three closed loop' tremor movement suppression control strategy is adopted to respectively control a functional neuromuscular stimulation device and a DC motor system to generate tremor movement with the same amplitude and 'opposite' phase positions so as to achieve the aim of suppressing arm tremor of the patients and improve the quality of lives of the tremor patients.

The invention has the advantage that simple and reliable switching of PS is realized with the downlink double loading technique or the multi loading transmission technique.

The invention provides a negative oxygen ion generator which comprises an assembly (10) and a loader (14). The assembly (10) has the characteristics of a capacitor, and the loader (14) provides or loads ultra-low voltage for the assembly. The assembly (10) which has the characteristics of charging, energy storing and discharging of the capacitor is composed of a first electrode (11), a second electrode (13) and an electric insulating medium (12). The first electrode (11) and the second electrode (13) are oppositely arranged, and the electric insulating medium (12) is arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode. Semiconductor materials which are sensitive to oxygen gas are adhered on the surface of the first electrode (11), the assembly (10) uses low voltage, the loader has the functions of switching on and off, and the assembly (10) and the loader (14) are correspondingly connected with each other. By combining the voltage loading technology and applying the characteristics of the capacitor and the semiconductor materials that are sensitive to the oxygen gas, the negative oxygen ion generator can generate high-activity genitive oxygen ions under the condition of low voltage without generating ozone; moreover, the production rate of the negative oxygen ions can be conveniently adjusted. The invention provides an efficient robust self-adapting beam forming method of broadband. The method is applied to the field of wireless communication and comprises steps as follows: performing fast fourier transform (FFT) to received data of an array to obtain the received data on different frequency points and a covariance matrix of the received data of each frequency point; choosing a central frequency point as a reference frequency point; using a propagator thought to respectively performing matrix partitioning on the covariance matrix of each frequency point and the covariance matrix of the central frequency point so as to obtain a propagator of each frequency point and the propagator of the central frequency point; constructing a focusing transformation matrix, focusing the propagators of different frequency points onto the same reference frequency point to obtain the final propagator estimation and noise subspace; and combining with a feature space method to configure a broadband beam forming algorithm weight vector to realize robust self-adapting beam forming of the broadband. In comparison with a traditional coherent signal subspace method, the method does not need any singular value or feature value decomposition, does not need a diagonal loading technique, and can reflect a good performance with respect to an environment having low snapshots and strong desired signals. Particularly, the method has stronger robustness and reduces the complexity under a condition that the desired signal estimation has a certain error.

Apparatus and process for optimizing work from a smart material actuator product

An apparatus and process for preloading an electrically stimulated smart material actuator product to obtain maximum work from the actuator. When a smart material actuator is optimally preloaded certain desirable characteristics become apparent, such as work, operational frequency, hysteresis, repeatability, and overall accuracy. When used in conjunction with a mechanically leveraged actuator structure the smart material actuator can be used to its greatest potential. Since the mechanically leveraged actuator can be based on the maximum work provided by the smart material actuator, certain attributes such as the force, and displacement of total system can be adjusted without loss to system efficiency. Preloading methods and a determination of the optimal preload force are disclosed. Each smart material actuator type has a unique work curve. In the design of an actuator assembly, the process of optimizing uses the unique work curve to optimize the design for the requirements of the particular application. The unique work curve is used by finding the place where the smart material actuator is capable of providing the most work in order to set the optimum preload point accordingly. Different mechanical preload techniques are provided.
