Dual-cure method and system for manufacturing 3D polymeric structures

ActiveCN117304425BAdditive manufacturing apparatus3D rigid printed circuitsImideDual cure
A dual cure process for forming a solid polymeric structure is provided. An end-capped terminal imide prepolymer is combined with at least one photopolymerizable ethylenic monomer, at least one photoinitiator, and a diamine to form a curable resin composition. The resin composition is irradiated in a first step under conditions effective to polymerize the at least one ethylenic monomer, thereby forming a scaffold composed of the prepolymer and polyolefin, wherein the diamine is entrapped within the scaffold. The irradiated composition is then heat treated at a temperature effective to cause a transimidization reaction between the prepolymer and the diamine, thereby releasing the terminal groups of the prepolymer to provide the solid polymeric structure. Also provided is a curable resin composition comprising an end-capped terminal imide prepolymer, at least one photopolymerizable ethylenic monomer, at least one photoinitiator, and a diamine, and related methods of use.
