A system and methodology for intelligent power management of wirelessly networked devices. The system provides for reliable wireless communication via a wireless power charging method and, a method to maintain power capacity of batteries in a wireless device. The batteries are charged via an RF harvesting unit embedded inside the wireless device. An intelligent wireless power charging system further comprises at least two batteries and at least two RF adaptor devices coupled to an AC power line. The first adaptor is set for data communication while the second adaptor is used to transmit the power. In addition, when a first battery is in use during active mode, the second battery is subjected to wireless charging.

A hot docking system and method for managing and detecting hot docking of bus cards. The hot docking system detects the load impedance at the power pins of the bus connector to determine whether a card has been inserted. When insertion is detected, bus activity on the connector is ceased until the card is completely inserted which is indicated by signals present on card detect pins which are mechanically shorter that the bus signal pins and thereby provide this insertion signal after all other connections are complete. The power supply pins are mechanically longer than the bus signal pins thereby providing an early indication that a card has been inserted. On removal of the card, the card detect pins disconnect before the bus signal pins or the power supply pins, signaling the system to halt bus activity but maintain power on the connector until the card is completely removed.

A device is provided for monitoring and controlling various power system device and elements. The device generally includes a communications channel for receiving phasor data associated with a location on the power system. The device further includes a logic engine which performs scalar, vector and/or other complex calculation based on the phasor data to provide control data or an output signal for effecting the various other power system devices or elements to provide local or wide area protection, control, and monitoring to maintain power system stability.

The present invention is a compression ignition internal combustion engine and method of operation which expands the load limit of quietly operating a premixed charge compression ignition (PCCI) engine by injecting a secondary fuel B, in ratios lean of stoichiometric, either into the intake air stream or directly into the cylinder to form a homogeneous fuel B and air mixture. Near top dead center of the compression stroke, a PCCI-type direct injection of fuel A event is used to initiate combustion of both fuel A and B at the proper time. At low loads the combustion mode is characterized a PCCI-type with high EGR rates. At medium loads the combustion mode is that of homogeneous combustion of fuel B coupled with PCCI combustion of fuel A. At the highest loads the engine will revert to a conventional diesel combustion mode of fuel A to maintain power density.

Real-time clock circuitry integrated in an electronic torque tool facilitates time-stamping of torque data acquired by the electronic torque tool. The time stamped torque data may be displayed on a display integrated in the electronic torque tool or may be communicated to an external device. The real-time clock circuitry may be adjusted based on information received from an external device or may be manually input to a keypad of the electronic torque tool. A calibration timer integrated in the electronic torque tool monitors time between calibrations of the tool and notifies a user upon expiration of a calibration interval. A secondary power source is coupled to the real-time clock circuitry to maintain power to the real-time clock circuitry during battery replacement.

A performance measure (e.g., processor speed) for computing components such as servers is optimized by creating models of power consumption versus the performance measure for each server, adding the power models to derive an overall power model, and calculating an optimum set point for the performance measure which corresponds to a power limit on the servers using the overall power model. The set point is then used to set power budgets for the servers based on their power models, and the servers maintain power levels no greater than their respective power budgets. The server power models are preferably created in real time by monitoring power consumption and the performance measure to derive sets of data points for the servers, and performing regression on the sets of data points to yield power models for the servers. Multiple server power models may be created for different program applications.

A discrete low-noise amplifier designed to operate in a mobile wireless environment uses two cascaded GaAs FETs to achieve 25 dB gain and 0.9 dB noise figure at 2.5 GHz. Active bias control circuitry responsive to monitored amplifier output power automatically and continuously adjusts the drain-source currents, and the load lines, of the cascaded FETs to (i) maintain power consumption at 33 milliwatts in nominal small-signal conditions, and to (ii) provide an elevated input third-order intermodulation intercept point (IP3) and a reduced noise figure during the presence of jamming. A 15 dB improvement in the input IP3 is achieved in large-signal operation. Amplifier operation is supported by an a.c. power detector of enhanced sensitivity and responsiveness because of un-grounded operation.

The present invention includes a power system that is designed to provide reliable electrical power to a facility, and specifically to a telecommunications facility. The system includes a number of proton exchange membranes (PEMs) adapted to provide DC power. The system is configured so that the PEMs receive fuel from a header that is supplied by a number of hydrogen generators. Storage tanks are also included to provide hydrogen to the header if the hydrogen generators fail. The hydrogen generators receive electricity initially from an array of photovoltaic panels. If the photovoltaic panels fail then AC power from a commercial utility is provided to the hydrogen generators. Finally, the system includes a number of super capacitors that are operable to maintain power during the time required to change between power sources.

The present invention relates to an automatic accurate temperature controlling technique for the foodstuff adding process when cooking congee/soup with a computerized electric cooker, which includes performing automatic accurate temperature control through increasing power or maintaining power to conduct rapid heat compensation during the random opening of a cooker lid to add foodstuff in high, medium or low flame heating phases. The invention adopts the automatic accurate temperature controlling technique capable of smartly controlling the temperature of the three cooking phases in cooking congee/soup in spite of randomly opening the cooker lid for foodstuff adding, thus, without increasing production cost, the application of the technique can accurately detect decreased values of in-pot food temperature and lid sensor temperature caused by the opening of the cooker lid for adding foodstuff, thereby automatically conducting heat compensation by controlling the power to increase or maintain so as to ensure sterilization to the later added foodstuff, in addition, improves the qualities of congee and soup cooked by the existing micro-computerized electric cooker, to make the congee or soup more delicious after more foodstuff is added during the cooking process. The automatic accurate temperature controlling technique for a micro-computerized electric cooker is new and practical, has good effect in cooking congee/soup because the lid can be randomly opened for foodstuff adding.

A method and circuit arrangement maintain power usage prediction information for one or more functional units in branch prediction logic for a processing unit such that the power consumption of a functional unit may be selectively reduced in association with the execution of branch instructions when it is predicted that the functional unit will be idle subsequent to the execution of such branch instructions.

The invention provides a method and device for maintaining power transmission and transformation equipment. The method comprises the following steps of: acquiring data required by equipment maintenance decisions, such as equipment state quantity index warning information data acquired from a monitoring warning layer, state evaluation result data acquired from a state evaluation layer, fault diagnosis result data acquired from a fault diagnosis layer, risk evaluation result data acquired from a risk evaluation layer, maintenance decision suggestion data generated by a maintenance policy layer and external constraint conditions; and carrying out decision analysis on the acquired data, establishing an equipment state maintenance policy model, optimizing maintenance sequence, maintenance time and maintenance grade of the power transmission and transformation equipment, and determining equipment maintenance property as well as arranging a maintenance decision plan. By using the method and device, key equipment faults and unnecessary maintenance operations can be avoided by timely maintenances, and the optimal distribution and use are searched in limited maintenance cost, thus effectively saving manpower and material resources.

A programmable logic device is provided with multiple power supplies such that, in one mode of operation, power can be disconnected from at least one part of the programmable logic device, while maintaining power at least to an interface component of the programmable logic device, or to a memory component in which current configuration data are stored, thereby avoiding the need for a configuration sequence when power is reapplied to the whole device. A portable information handling system having internal battery power and external adapter power manages power drawn from the external power adapter to avoid exceeding the power rating of the external power adapter. As power drawn from the external adapter approaches a predetermined limit of the power adapter power rating, a power manager of the information handling system alters the operation of the information handling system to reduce power drawn from the adapter, such as by reducing current drawn to charge the battery, enforcing battery optimized mode steps or throttling central processing unit operation. Incremental decreases in power consumption maintain power draw below the external adapter power rating while incremental increases in power consumption have a delay that returns the information handling system to normal operations without excessive oscillation between operating modes.

A system and method for relating heart rate and power output during exercise includes subjecting an individual to a physical activity that involves maintaining power output at a substantially constant level during a time period while monitoring heart rate. For an initial portion of the time period, there is a generally parallel correlation between power output and heart rate. Subsequently, a separation point occurs at which heart rate increases at a relatively rapid rate while power output remains relatively constant, which provides an accurate indication of the individual's anaerobic threshold. The separation point may be used to determine an exercise regimen for the individual, which may be used in a variety of ways, including in weight loss or maintenance, athletic training, physical therapy, etc. The physical activity may involve operation of an item of exercise equipment, such as a cycling exerciser, which includes means for sensing power output by the individual.

The invention relates to an optimal configuration and operation method for reactive compensation of a wind farm. The optimal configuration and operation method is characterized by comprising the following steps of: (1) analyzing the reactive output characteristics of the wind farm, and installing a reactive compensation device in the wind farm and configuring a volume for the reactive compensation device; and (2) detecting reactive powers of a fan outlet and an interconnection point of the wind farm, and mechanically controlling the static reactive compensation and the dynamic reactive compensation of the wind farm. The optimal configuration and operation method is designed reasonably, the combination operation of the static reactive compensation and the dynamic reactive compensation of the wind farm is realized, and the reactive powers of the wind farm and a power grid are ensured under the optimal condition of the reactive compensation device of the wind farm, therefore the effect of maintaining power grid stabilization is achieved, the reactive compensation property of the wind farm is improved, the reactive compensation equipment investment is reduced, and the reactive compensation economic and technological requirements of the wind farm are satisfied.
