Embedded electronic component package

A method of forming an embedded electronic component package includes coupling a substrate to a first dielectric layer, strip, or panel, and forming first electrically conductive vias and traces in the first dielectric layer. A cavity is then formed in the first dielectric layer and an electronic component is attached in the cavity. A second dielectric layer, strip, or panel, is then applied to the first dielectric layer, thereby encasing the electronic component in dielectric. Second via apertures are then formed through the second dielectric layer to expose selected electronic component bond pads and / or selected first electrically conductive vias and traces. The second via apertures are then filled with an electrically conductive material to form second electrically conductive vias electrically coupled to selected bond pads and selected first electrically conductive vias and traces.

Compositions, kits, and methods for repairing bonds, for example, disulfide bonds, in hair or on the skin are disclosed. The compositions provide improved conditioning benefit for dry hair or moisturize the skin. The compositions also provide a long lasting moisturized feel and smooth feel to the skin or hair, without feeling greasy. The compositions contain one or more compounds that covalently bind at least two thiol groups in the hair or on the skin. Use of the binding compositions prevents reversion of the repaired bonds to their free thiol state, for at least one week or one month, or more, after a single application of the composition. Improved methods of styling hair, for example permanent hair waving, hair curling, hair coloring or highlighting, and hair straightening, are also provided.

Non-woven glass mat with dissolvable binder system for fiber-reinforced gypsum board

A gypsum board having glass fiber reinforcement. The glass fiber has sizing promoting bonding with a gypsum matrix. The glass fibers are added to the gypsum matrix cia a non-woven glass fiber mat bonded initially with a dissolvable or reversible binder to maintain the three dimensional architecture of the non-woven glass fiber mat during handling and insertion into a cast wet gypsum slurry forming a gypsum board. Upon insertion in the wet gypsum slurry, the dissolvable bond between the glass fibers in the non-woven glass fiber mat dissolves and allows the sizing coating on the glass fibers to make intimate contact with the gypsum matrix. In case of the reversible bond, the bond adhesive hydrolyzes during the gypsum board drying cycle providing intimate contact between the sizing coated glass fibers and the gypsum matrix. The non-woven glass fiber mats bonded to the gypsum matrix provides improved strength and flexure resistance of the gypsum board.

Ceramic sheet and process for producing the same

A ceramic sheet has a burr height on the periphery of the sheet of ±100 μm or less and / or a dimple height on the sheet surface of 100 μm or less, as determined by irradiating the sheet with a laser beam to measure reflected light, and three-dimensionally analyzing the reflected light with a laser optical three-dimensional profiling instrument. This sheet is highly resistant to stacking-induced loads and thermal stresses. Further, when the ceramic sheet includes a zirconia ceramic partially stabilized with 2.8 to 4.5% by mole of yttria and containing 0.1 to 2% by mass of at least one dispersed reinforcing oxide, in which the grain size of the surface of the sheet has an average of 0.1 to 0.4 μm, a maximum of 0.4 to 0.8 μm, and a coefficient of variation of 30% or less, which grain size is determined by scanning electron microscopic observation, the ceramic sheet has satisfactory strength at room temperature and at high temperatures and satisfactory durability of strength at high temperatures. The ceramic sheet is very useful as, for example, a solid-electrolyte film of a solid oxide fuel cell.

Aircraft kite

A kite in the shape of an aircraft having one or more wings. The number of wings can vary due to novel V-shaped connection members employed together with strut rod members cut to predetermined lengths. The connection members are preformed V-shaped connectors slidably mounted to spar members disposed in open-ended sleeves in the leading and trailing edges of a wing and may be oriented to receive strut members form either above or below the wing, for efficiency manufacturing, ease in assembly, and minimum exposure to breakage during operation, storage and transport. Additional connection members may be added to the spar members to receive strut members connected to additional wings thereby allowing for an airplane kite having one wing, two wings, three wings, or more. Multiple-V connectors may be combined to create hubs for propellers or wheels that rotate when they encounter a front wind. Ram air openings are utilized in the fuselage of the kite to maintain the shape of the fuselage and the angles of wings. Additionally, the wings are equipped with air scoop pockets for added stability and performance under a large spectrum of flying conditions and improved appearance of the wings without requiring spars along the out edges of the wings. Similar ram air openings or air scoop pockets are utilized in the tail fin members for increased stability and flight characteristics, the tail fins receiving air from either within the fuselage or from outside the fuselage, respectively.

Method and apparatus for low-speed, high-throughput fiber drawing using coiled fiber loops

A method and apparatus for continuous drawing of fibers in the form of coiled fiber loops (e.g., polygonal or serpentine loops). The successive fiber loops are continuously laid on receiving ends of a plurality of conveyer-drawing members (CDM) [e.g., rotating threaded spindles (54) or circulating endless chains (80) and (108)] disposed about a central axis and diverged from this axis. Coiled fiber loops are conveyed along the central axis and simultaneously drawn by enlarging a circumference of the fiber loops by the CDM. The leading fiber loops are continuously taken off at delivery ends of the CDM and conveyed from the drawing apparatus at an outlet speed. Heat chambers (11) and (148) envelop at least the most part of CDM. The process can operate at low drawing speed and long drawing time typical for lab-scale experiments and equal or higher outlet speed and throughput typical for commercial drawing processes. The method can produce low-cost / high-strength / high-modulus / low-shrinkage commercial polymer fibers.

Expandable Boundary Layer Turbine

A boundary layer turbine that uses flat disks that can be precision cut at low cost is more cost-effective to construct and maintain than conventional turbines. Bolt-on hub design significantly decreases breakage and distortion. Delta-wing shaped center spacers and flow enhancing, teardrop-shaped outer spacers further increase durability by providing improved support for the disks while minimizing the disturbance of the natural flow of fluids. Use of endplates with heavy outer rims results in turbines with greater gyroscopic effect and greater mass for kinetic energy storage. A disk-directed inlet valve and focused inlet nozzle system increases efficiency by directing flows to the individual disks valve in a low friction containment case. The directed flow tuned inlet nozzle system further increases efficiency. Coating the inner case of the turbine's enclosure with Teflon or similar materials reduces friction and further improves efficiency.

Double-sided, Indexable Turning Insert

The invention relates to a double-sided, indexable turning insert having a polygonal basic shape, comprising a plurality of corners, a peripheral clearance surface, and identical upper and under sides, in which there are included support surfaces situated in a reference plane, which are parallel to each other and to a neutral plane, which is situated halfway between the reference plane and toward which the clearance surface extends at a right angle. Along the upper side as well as the under side, primary cutting edges are present, which individually include a nose edge situated in a corner and two main edges, which converge toward the same and are located in a nose plane inclined in relation to the neutral plane, and which transform into auxiliary cutting edges, which run parallel to the neutral plane and separate each pair of primary cutting edges along one and the same side of the turning insert, chip-directing guide surfaces being placed inside the chip surfaces of the cutting edges. According to the invention, the primary cutting edge has a generally positive cutting geometry so far that a wedge angle of the cutting edge between the chip surface and the clearance surface is acute in arbitrary sections along the nose edge as well as along the two main edges. In such a way, the primary cutting edge becomes easy-cutting and produces chips that can be guided in a careful, although distinct way by the guide surfaces being inside.
