A composite gas separation module includes a porous substrate; an intermediate layer at the porous substrate that includes particles and a binder metal, wherein the binder metal is uniformly distributed throughout the intermediate layer; and a dense gas-selective membrane, wherein the dense gas-selective membrane overlies the intermediate layer. In one embodiment, the intermediate layer includes a gradient of particle size from a surface of the intermediate layer proximate to the porous substrate to a surface of the intermediate layer distal to the porous substrate. The particles of the intermediate layer can include particles selected from the group consisting of metal particles, metal oxide particles, ceramic particles, zeolite particles, and combinations thereof.

An element, for example an element with a hollow body or a bolt element, in particular a nut element, for attachment to a plate-like component, has a ring-shaped recess or annular groove present at an end face of the element facing the component within a raised ring-shaped contact surface. A package structure in which a coreless substrate has direct electrical connections to a semiconductor chip and a manufacturing method thereof are disclosed. The method includes the following steps: providing a metal carrier board having a cavity; placing a chip having a plurality of electrode pads on an active surface in the cavity of a board; filling the cavity with an adhesive for fixing the chip; forming a solder mask on the active surface of the chip and the surface of the metal carrier board at the same side, wherein the solder mask has a plurality of openings to expose the electrode pads of the chip; forming a built-up structure on the solder mask and the exposed active surface of the chip in the openings; and removing the metal carrier board. In this method the metal carrier board can support the built-up structure to thereby avoid warpage.

Face enveloping gears are machined by face milling type cutting tool or gear shaper. This process includes the following steps: positioning of the cutting tool in tangential relation relative to the meshing enveloping pinion thread with face gear by the smallest pitch diameter of threads with face gear teeth; turning rotating cutter relative to axis of rotation of an imaginary enveloping wheel until generating tooth is on the outer circle of the face gear. For generation of enveloping pinion the complementary cutting tool has additional motion around axis of pinion rotation. In another method tooth shaper or helical hob rotating tool rotates around axis of rotation of a theoretical generating gear for enveloping pinion with a predetermined relative motion to axis of rotation of work gear. This reduces production cost and makes manufacturing easier.

A torque sensor comprising a shaft of magnetostrictive material; a pair of magnets having oppositely sensed poles positioned circumferentially around the shaft so as to induce a localized magnetic field in the shaft between the poles. A torque applied to the shaft is sensed by a flux detector positioned circumferentially between the magnet poles so as to detect a component of the localized magnetic field which escapes from the shaft as a result of the torque. With this design, there is no need to permanently magnetize the shaft or a collar attached to the shaft, as in the prior art. The prior art manufacturing step of permanently magnetizing the collar or its shaft is also thus eliminated, greatly simplifying the manufacturing.

A continuous web printer that has an inlet for receiving a web of media from a media web roll unwinder, an outlet for delivery to a media web roll winder, a media feed path extending from the inlet to the outlet and pagewidth inkjet printhead assemblies positioned adjacent the media feed path for printing on both sides of the web. The media feed path has a first print zone positioned adjacent a second print zone. The first print zone is a section of the media feed path in which one side of the web is printed. A one-piece fiber reinforcement for a reinforced polymer is described. In an embodiment, a one-piece reinforcement is fabricated by first assembling an interior randomly oriented fiber layer between two exterior aligned fiber layers. With all layers in face to face contact, a preselected number of fibers from the aligned layer is conveyed out of its aligned layer and threaded into at least the random fiber layer so that the conveyed fibers engage and mechanically and frictionally interfere with the random fibers. The fibers may be conveyed from one aligned layer to the other for yet greater interference. The interfering fibers serve to secure and interlock the layers together, producing a one-piece reinforcement which, when impregnated with a polymer precursor, shaped and cured may be incorporated in a polymer reinforced composite article.

A high-frequency device includes a substrate including a plurality of layers that are stacked on top of one another and that include dielectric and magnetic layers, terminals, pattern conductors each formed on one layer, and via conductors each extending through one layer. The pattern conductors and via conductors connect the terminals and form a signal line that transmits a high-frequency signal. A first portion of the signal line includes a via conductor extending through one magnetic layer and/or a pattern conductor sandwiched between two magnetic layers and has a predetermined resistance to the high-frequency signal. A second portion of the signal line includes a capacitor formed of two pattern electrodes with at least one dielectric layer and no magnetic layers sandwiched there between and/or an inductor including a pattern conductor formed on a dielectric layer. A bulk amorphous metal magnetic component has a plurality of laminations of ferromagnetic amorphous metal strips adhered together to form a generally three-dimensional part having the shape of a polyhedron. The component is formed by stamping, stacking and bonding. The bulk amorphous metal magnetic component may include an arcuate surface, and an implementation may include two arcuate surfaces that are disposed opposite each other. The present invention provides a method of making a headliner for use in an automobile interior. The method of the invention comprises applying an adhesive on a first fiber mat and a second fiber mat to form a first adhesive-containing fiber mat and a second adhesive-containing fiber mat. The first adhesive-containing fiber mat and the second adhesive-containing fiber mat are optionally dried. A multilayered structure is then assembled by positioning the first adhesive-containing fiber mat between a first fabric layer and a padding layer and the second adhesive-containing fiber mat between the padding layer and a second fabric. Finally, the multilayered structure is pressed at a sufficiently high temperature to adhere the component layers of the headliner together. The invention also provides a variation in which the fiber mats are formed using the adhesive as a binder. Finally, the invention also provide a headliner made by the method of the invention.

An inline ultrasonic transducer assembly is disclosed. The transducer assembly can include a body having a cylindrical flow passage and a transducer mounting space having a track on along which at least one transducer chassis can be slidingly engaged. The transducer chassis can include at least one piezo member oriented at an angle with the axial centerline of the flow passage.

An internally ventilated brake disc includes at least two friction rings, which are held apart from each other by ribs, and air blades, which are fastened to the brake disc and which extend essentially from the inner circumference of a friction ring in the radial direction by a defined amount in the direction of the axis of rotation of the brake disc. The air blades function to deliver a cooling air flow through the space between the friction rings when the brake disc is rotating. The air blades are formed by one or more sheet metal part(s) that is or are connected to at least some of the ribs. This connection can be by material bonding or can be shape locking or force locking. The air blades are machined out of a sheet metal ring and, thus, form an integral sheet metal part, wherein the sheet metal ring is provided with a plurality of clamps or clips for a shape-locking connection to the ribs and is not formed so as to be closed.
