Cavity back golf club head

A golf club head having a cavity back design with a cavity therein for placement of lightweight dual-durometer silicone. The club head is prepared by brushing an adhesive onto the interior wall, but omitting a pre-selected area of the wall to allow silicone to shrink away at the omitted area to allow for control of the shrinkage. A first shot of 80 Shore A silicone is placed into the cavity and disposed against the interior wall. Next, a softer 50 Shore A silicone is juxtaposed against the first shot of silicone and it is pressed using a hot mold finishing tool wherein a substantial portion of the cavity is filled. A polycarbonate insert is attached to an outer surface of the second silicone to provide a zero gap appearance. A tan delta ratio of the first silicone to the second silicone is greater than 1.6. A storage modulus of the first silicone is at least three times greater than the second silicone. And, a loss modulus of the first silicone is at least ten times the second silicone.

Vibration-dampening drill collar

A drill collar primarily for use with measurement-while-drilling and logging-while-drilling sensors, the drill collar composed of a non-magnetic nickel alloy, and having three or four elongate nitral elastomer ribs parallel the longitudinal axis and mounted on the inner surface of the drill collar, defining a central aperture for receiving the down-hole sensor and inter-rib apertures for receiving drilling fluid. This novel drill collar is especially useful in rough or underbalanced drilling applications, protecting the sensor and enhancing measurement accuracy by dampening flow-based harmonic vibrations, absorbing vibration from lateral tool movement, and stabilizing / centralizing the sensor within the central aperture. Also, the novel drill collar allows the operator to run lower fluid rates while drilling, minimizing formation damage from fluid invasion.

Adaptive arm support

An adaptive arm support provides motion of an armrest within a plane through any direction of translation. A number of vertical rods and bearings permit at least two links to pivot with respect to each other, permitting translation in any direction while staying within the plane. Bushing-tipped set screws are provided which dampen movement, to reduce or eliminate the effects of unintentional tremors. The armrest includes a swivel mounting which is also damped, which permits the longitudinal axis of the armrest to swivel from horizontal orientation to inclined angles which are out of the plane of translation. An elbow pad is provided which also pivots from perpendicular to the armrest longitudinal axis to different angular orientation with respect thereto.

An outsole, especially for sports shoes, that can be formed with a large amount of elastic deformability even in the tangential direction towards the front and the back, enabling a good cushioning effect even when the tread of the foot is inclined and somewhat slipping. Beyond at least one critical deformation in the deformed region, the sole remains essentially rigid in relation to tangential deformation. In this way, the runner has a secure footing on the respective tread point. The runner can push off from the tread point without losing ground and a swimming effect on the sole is prevented. The elastic deformability of the sole also in the tangential direction is caused by at least one first element, and the rigidity of the sole in relation to tangential deformation beyond the at least one critical deformation, in addition to the degree of the at least one critical deformation in the deformed region is due to at least one second element. So that the first and second elements can be independently designed, dimensioned and produced, there are extensive structuring, formation and variation possibilities. Certain areas in the heel and / or the ball region of the sole can be varied by the at least one first element, and certain areas by the at least one second element, in the longitudinal direction.

Vehicle hitch with multi-directional damping

The present invention is directed to an adjustable trailer hitch that provides a suspended connection between a tow vehicle and an attached trailer. The hitch includes a support member that is adapted to be attached to a tow vehicle and a frame having first and second pivots for pivotally support a hitch plate, which is operative to connect to a trailer (e.g., engage a trailer pin). A first air spring has a first end fixedly connected to the support member and a second end fixedly connected to the frame. The air spring permits relative movement between the support member and the frame as well as transmitting towing forces therebetween. The air spring provides a pliable connection that at least partially mechanically isolates the trailer and the vehicle from each other. Instead of acting as a single unit, the vehicle and the trailer act at least partially independently of each other.

Directional loudspeaker control system

In a directional speaker control system for realizing good sound localization by correcting the directivity of a directional speaker, adapted to an audio surround system in which a desired sound is reflected on a wall surface or a sound reflection board so as to produce a virtual speaker, a first directional speaker emits a first sound toward the wall surface or sound reflection board so that the reflected sound reaches a prescribed listening position, and a second directional speaker emits a second sound, which comes to have an inverse phase with respect to an audio element of the first sound reaching the listening position directly, toward the listening position. Thus, it is possible to adequately dampen the audio element (particularly, low-frequency components) emitted directly toward the listening position from the first directional speaker; hence, it is possible to realize good sound localization.

Method and device for restraining movement of continuously traveling glass sheet

A sheet restrainer is used to restrain movement of continuously traveling glass sheet and includes arms on either side of the glass sheet. A driving device coupled to the arms moves the arms from a retracted position in which the arms are withdrawn from the glass sheet to an engaged position in which the arms are near the glass sheet and in alignment with each other. Rollers are connected to the arms and contact the glass sheet in the engaged position. A damping device applies an adjustable damping force to at least one of the arms dampening movement of the arm in the engaged position thereby restraining movement of the sheet. In a method of operation, the damping devices restrain angular and / or lateral movement of the sheet by transmitting movement of the sheet against the rollers into a resistive damping force of the damping devices.

The systems and apparatus utilize a bed of particles within a muffling chamber. The gases are introduced using a diffusion tube with holes therethrough. The muffling particles preferably include silica or alumina, which can also catalytically degrade pollutants. Typically, the muffling / reaction chamber is maintained at a temperature in a range from about 50° C. to about 500° C., which is much lower than temperatures within conventional muffling systems for diesel engines. The muffling systems operate as substantially lower back pressure compared to conventional muffling systems. The systems and apparatus can be adapted to be used in combination with diesel engines or other internal combustion engines and industrial burners.
