The invention belongs to the technical field of display screen manufacturing and provides a method for increasing the display color gamut of an LED display screen. On the basis of determining the range of tricolor wavelength, an orange-yellow LED of which the wavelength is about 580nm is added at each pixel; then recalculation is carried out through a DVI to generate data of red, green, yellow and blue; and finally, a group of data signals is given to each of the four colors: red, green, yellow and blue, and the data signals of the four colors are scattered to red, green, yellow and blue lamps for display. According to the method, the orange-yellow LED of which the wavelength is about 580nm is added so that the color gamut which can be displayed by the LED display screen is a quadrangle. Compared with an LED display screen adopting the trichromatic theory, the display color gamut is increased by 10%, the display effect of the LED display screen is greatly improved, the production and use costs are low, and the method has strong popularization and application values.
