Maximum extended load line limit analysis for a boiling water nuclear reactor

A method for expanding the operating domain of a boiling water nuclear reactor that permits safe operation of the reactor at low core flows is described. The operating domain is characterized by a map of the reactor thermal power and core flow. In an exemplary embodiment, the method for expanding the operating domain of a boiling water nuclear reactor permits operation of the reactor between about 120 percent of rated thermal power and about 85 percent of rated core flow to about 100 percent of rated thermal power and about 55 percent of rated core flow. The method includes determining an elevated load line characteristic that improves reactor performance, performing safety evaluations at the elevated load line to determine compliance with safety design parameters, and performing operational evaluations at the elevated load line. The method also includes defining a set of operating conditions for the reactor in an upper operating domain characterized by the elevated load line. Additionally, the method includes performing a detailed analysis of the performance of the core recirculation system and the system control components. further, the method provides for modifying the reactor process controls and computers to permit the reactor to operate in the expanded operating domain within predetermined safety parameters. Also, safety mitigation action setpoints are adjusted to permit reactor operation in the expanded operating domain.

The invention discloses a method for electro-regeneration of a membraneless ion exchange resin based on an equivalent filter element electrode, which aims at reviving and regenerating inactive cation and anion exchange resin and chelating resin, etc. by using an electrode reaction and OH<-> and H<+> produced in hydrolytic dissociation. A microporous filter element electrode is adopted and the power is supplied by a direct current power source or a chemical power source. When in regeneration, the external pressure of an regeneration chamber of the filter element electrode is higher than the internal pressure of the filter element electrode; displaced counter ions enter into the exterior of an electrode filter element under the coupling effect of an electric field force and a water flow drag force, and an electrochemical reaction system is lead out to realize the regeneration of the resin. The anode derived water is disinfectant fluid with acid oxidation potential and used for regenerating an acidulous cation resin; the cathode derived water serves as raw water for regeneration after going through acidulous resin treatment. The method dispenses with expensive ion exchange membranes, avoids defects of blocking and electrode scaling, etc., owing to the features of membranes and has wide market prospect in a swage treatment industry.

With the adoption of the novel lower-pressure-drop distribution plate, the pressure drop of the multilayered bed can be effectively reduced, and gas-liquid flowing is disordered; the contact area between flue gas and a solid purifying agent is large, and a gas flowing path is long, so that enough gas retention time is guaranteed; and the flue gas is in sufficient reaction with the solid purifying agent, and the novel lower-pressure-drop distribution plate has operational flexibility.
